Veteran's Day
by NATHAN

Veteran's Day is to remember the men and the women that gave there lives to make are country free. The reason we get the day off from school is to honor the Veteran's that died. In the future we will have a new memorial to honor the Veteran's that gave there lives for us.

Veteran's Day is to remember the men and women who gave there lives for us to make our country free. If they hadn't fought we wouldn't be in school we would probably be out there fighting in a war. The only reason we get that day off is to honor the people who fought for are country and died in the process.

In the future there will be a new memorial to honor. It will be bigger and better than the old one on highway 30. They say that it will be located at the library, they say that there will be a brick for every person that died I'm looking forward to the new memorial and just to honor the Veteran's that fought for us, to see all of the people that died in a war that lived here in Scappoose.

Veterans Day

Today in the library we talked to 5 heros. That we saw in the library today. They showed us their hats with a whole bunch of pins on it. Also they told us the machinery that they drove in World War 2. We selected this day for people that risked their lives for our country. The reason why we have a day-off today is to remember these 5 men that fought for our country.

What I'm writing about is about 5 men that fought for our country in World War 2. These men put our state to freedom. They also fought real hard for our country when lots of their friends died in the war.

About the war they flew planes and rove tanks and controlled ships. They showed us their pictures of their tanks and other kinds of machinery. They brought and showed us Japanese money and whole bunch from when they fought. One of them brought a piece of metal from their big machinery.

Why we had day-offs for Veterans Day cause it is a time to remember what 5 men did for our state. They went and gave it their best in World War 2 by fighting roughly for our country. They did everything that they could do for our country.

About the World War 2. They went through tough times. They drove heavy machinery like tanks, chopper, and hummers and big heavy duty ships. They talked about their tanks, pictures, and all of the tough times they had in World War 2. The reason why we have a day-off on the special day is cause of these 5 hard-working gentlemen. Thank you for reading my report for Veterans Day.

Veterans Day
by Joe

Veterans Day is a day for all the veterans. Worldwide, men and women how made it back from the sea, land, and fighter planes. We thank those people for making our nation safe.

Meeting the Veterans

Some veterans often come back with photos such as him with his best friend before he died. Other people tell stories about their first time going into War.

Why We Get the Day Off

The reason we get the day off is to honor the veterans for making this part of the Nation safe for us. We wouldn't be here today if they hadn't been here to help our nation not be blown up.

Memorial Services

Some towns have memorial services by their schools for their veterans. Here in Scappoose we have flags at Grant Watts, Petersen Elementary, and the High School, and at City Hall.

So today we thank the Veterans for making our Nation safe.

On Nov. 9, 1999, my class and I met the veterans at Petersen Elementary library. They shared what they remembered about their comrades giving their own lives just for our freedom. They also talked about the memorial service in Scappoose at the flagpole across from the BP station at 11:00 Thurs., Veterans Day.

The day I met the veterans was Nov. 9, 1999, at the Scappoose Elementary School when they thanked us for the beautiful cards we made to honor them. And I hope they realize how much my class enjoyed meeting them!

In the library that day they shared with us the memory of their comrades and what they went through to save our freedom ‘till this very day. And here I set in my classroom and thank the veterans and honor them.

On November 11, 1999, at 11:00, Thursday, Veterans Day, across from the BP station at the flagpole. There they will honor the veterans that fought for our country and our freedom. These pour men have to stand out there all by themselves while trucks fly by and splash them and the rain hits them while Scappoose sits inside on their vacation and doesn't even let Veterans Day cross their minds.

Now I hope the veterans all know they were greatly appreciated now that we've made them beautiful cards when we met them! And I hope they know we loved hearing their stories. I also hope they know we were all thinking of them on Thursday, November 11, 1999, while they were at the flagpole. And again, we are greatly appreciative!

Thank you.

Veterans Day

Today in the library we got to meet the Veterans. They told us stories about what war they fought in. They showed us pictures about the stuff they did like the ship or tank they were in.

When we went into the library, the Veterans were there. There was five Veterans that came and talked to us. One lives here and another has a granddaughter that goes to this school. The other three I don't know where they live.

They told us stories about what war they fought in. A couple of them fought in World War II and World War I. Two of them were on a ship and I think the other three were on a tank and one was on a airplane. Some of them fought at Pearl Harbor. One told us how he got his tattoo.

They even showed us pictures about the war they were in. The ones that were on a tank had pictures of it. The ones that were on a ship had pictures of it, too. One had a picture of him when he first started. He was only 15!

So I told you about meeting the Veterans and them telling us stories and them showing us pictures. I hope you leaned about the Veterans stuff you didn't know.
