Reviews of a Play

Treasure Island

by MeganI don't think Robert Louis Stevenson would have liked the play because they changed the characters, put new stuff in, and left some characters out from his book.
If you were writing a book and spent a long time writing it and someonw did a play and changed everything, how would you feel? I know I would feel terrible like I did my hard work for nothing. They totally changed the characters personality. Jim was never rowdy, shouting, disobeying his mother, and acting like a pirate. In the book he was obedient, kind, quiet, and serious.
They also put new stuff in such as the character Old Kate, even Ben Gunn was different in the story. He had a pistol but in the play he had a mallet.
They even left characters out such as Pew, Jim's father, Redruth, Flint the Parrot, Morgan, Dick, George Merry, and Gray. They even left out the black spot, which I think has an important part. It shows how the pirates were so superstitious. They also didn't show Long John Silver had a wooden peg for a leg.
So now you know that the play wasn't nearly as good as the story. They changed the characters, put new stuff in, and left some characters out from his book. I think Treasure Island could have been better performed. But I still think you should see it for yourself.

Treasure Island
by Ann MarieWhen I went to the play I thought that the author would have liked it. The theater did a good job on making you get into the show. The costumes were really like the kind they wore. I think that the author would like it because it is a lot like the book. And because it's like the visible picture in your head.
The scenery was what I pictured in my mind. I think the author would have thought that scenery is a lot like what people imagine when they listen to the story. I think he would like it because it's what they wore, how they talked in the story, and what the ship and island looked like.
The costumes I don't think he would like as much because they looked too baggy and colorful. But I pretty much know that he would like the props. They looked pretty real. I think maybe if they worked on maybe it would be better.
The way the actors got into their parts I think the author would have liked most of all. They would always use the expression that they need for their characters. They limped if they needed to or fake kicking or punching.
And so I conclude that he might like it. Or he may think that they need more expensive props or backgrounds. But anyway he might think it matches his imagination.

Treasure Island
by JakeThe Treasure Island play was not a good play at all if you read the book first. I will start by telling you why I think that Robert Louis Stevenson would not like this play. Second, I will tell you who was in the book but not the play. The last one will be about how Jim acted a little weird.
I think Mr. Stevenson would not like this play because it is so different from the book that you wonder if you are at the right play. The only good part of the play was the backdrop. It was very fantastic.
I will just tell you in this list who was in the book that wasn't in the play: Pew, Jim's father, Squire Trelawney, Redruth, Parrot "Flint," Morgan, Dick, George Merry, and Gray.
In the play Jim acted in a very different way. He skipped and played with a broom like it was a sword. Now the Jim in the book was serious, mature, and not a joking kind of kid.
This was just my thought of the story but I also think that you should read the wonderful tale of Jim and the Captain in the book of Treasure Island.
