Fall, 1999
Dear Mrs. Huffman,
My name is Jake and my favorite subjects are health and science. My birthday is April seventh, and I was born in the
morning. And I have a brother and a sister. Lately my brother has been mean to me. That is why I was happy to go to
Eastern Oregon to hunt for deer. It was only me and my dad because my brother didn't want to miss any football games or
school classes because he is really trying to get straight A's. And my sister has to go to her volleyball games or practices.
So it was just me and my dad that went this year. But we had to drop off my brother and sister at my aunt's house. My dad
talked for a long time and finally we left. We started driving to Eastern Oregon we got there at eleven o'clock P.M.
We got to a five mile long gravel road that takes us to our morning we will hunt on the way to camp. We got to camp
without finding any deer, but we did find my gramps and grandma--even my uncle and his dog. My uncle left about two days
after we got there. He didn't get a deer but he left anyway.
Then we had to leave on Thursday for my football practice. But on the way home we saw a big buck standing by the river
and my dad could of shot it but we would have been late for practice. So we started driving and when we got home my mom
said that there was no football practice!
After that my dad went hunting and shot a two by three. After that I was really happy! Then my grandpa shot a little deer
also. I'm looking forward to hunting next year!
Sincerely,
Jake
