Camp Collins

At May 31, 6th graders from O. H. H. Peterson School were off to Camp Collins, a place with a lot of fun activities.

Two types of hikes were planned and one was a 2 hour one while the second one was more like one hour. The longer hike went through woods and mud and the second one was on a rocky beach.

The cabins, built of wood, contained 14 beds. The cabins were pretty cold, but if you had a warm sleeping bag it was okay. The groups had lots of time in the cabins and you were obligated to keep them clean. Floors had to be swept and things had to be put away. You could get awards for such things as cleanest floor and cleanest cabin.

Activities were made every day. Sometimes harder than usual. The most popular activities were rope activities. Some involved climbing while others were on the ground.

Camp Collins was okay even though fun activities, they had a lot of free time and strict rules.

What We Did At Outdoor School

My favorite thing to do was the environment stuff. We played capture the flag, preditor and prey, and went on hikes.

On capture the flag, they painted each team a different color, red or green. We would be in the woods and me and some other people made up a team and got the flag. I was green. Everyone had to hide the flag. They had boundaries but I went out of them sometimes because they were hard to see.

On predator and prey you got painted three different colors: red, yellow, and green. Red could eat yellow but not green, and yellow could eat green but not red, and green couldn't eat anything. They would send out great white hunters who could eat anyone but they could not get eaten. Everyone got beans for their lives. When you eat someone they give you a bean and when someone eats you, you give them a bean. The great white hunters could take as many beans as they wanted. The first time I was red and the second time I was green.

On the hikes we would walk in the woods for about two hours and the counselors would stop and talk about trees, plants, and animals. There were lots of different kinds of plants and animals. We learned a lot too.

Camp was fun and I liked all the games. I wish we could stay there longer so I could play capture the flag, predator and prey, and go on more hikes.

Outdoor School

Outdoor school was a blast. We did many exciting things. There were fun activities, great meals, and fun counselors.

Most of the activities were team building activities. You had to learn to trust everyone in your group. On the high rope activities it was important to trust yourself and cheer everyone on.

We had three meals a day. They were breakfast lunch and dinner. Everyone at your table stayed seated except for one person who would go and get the food. You usually had milk with every meal. You had desert after every meal but breakfast.

There were many counselors at camp. Some counselors came from different parts of the world. Each counselor had a made up name. The names of the counselors were Alex (Alex came from England), Dawson ( Dawson came from New Zealand), Sunny, Shadow, Java, and Angela.

Once again I thought that outdoor school was a blast. The activities and meals were great, and the counselors were fun.

Camp Skits

I thought that some of the skits were funny and some of them were not. The ones that the camp directors did were really funny. And some of the other plays that the kids did were funny too!

The ones that were funny were: one called Bubblegum and Raisin and one called Restaurant, and all volunteers were the tables and they had cups of water on their backs and they got soaked!

The one that the directors did were really really funny: one called Busy Busy Bee Sport Me the Honey, and that is where there is a bee and the bee does three circles and the other person has water and sprays them!

There were some done by the kids and they were called J. C. Penney, The Fly, and many more, and they were all funny.

I hope that you like my writing about all the different kinds of skits we had, and the funny and not so funny, and the ones done by the camp directors that were funny, and the ones that were done by the kids. I hope you enjoyed it!

Fun Activities at Camp

Outdoor school camp was fun because we got to do rope activities and do trail and rock climbing and we balanced on wires across and it was a blast but it was not scary enough because the ropes were really tied on and they challenged you to a new level because you do so much high rope activities.

The counselors were awesome as we had Michael K. and Kyle T. T. was my home for fun and Michael was my pal and they like they let us play around so they were awesome. Kyle T. was the best out of all of the counselors. We had these pockets and rolled them up and add Blake and we it counselors and start running but they might catch us and get us good.

The lunch was good. Dinner was good and breakfast was good. Everything was good and real tasty. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner and it was real good.

Camp was the best and very hard and also very fun. You do team things and it was just a blast.

Things to do At Outdoor School

Camp Collins was a very fun place to be for camping. By. The high ropes (the cat walk), the rock climb, and 2 1/2 hour walk which I thought was very fun for me.

I thought the high ropes, the cat walk was very fun. First you get on a harness. Then you get to get clipped on a clip in case you fall. Then you walk across a wire and then on both sides of you, you have a rope that you hold onto. Then you walk pretty far then when you get to the other side you turn around and say I'm a pony! Then you let go and you fly back.

The rock climb was pretty fun. You get on a harness with a helmet. Then you start climbing up a wall and when you get to the top you ring a bell and then you put your feet flat on the wall and Moon walk on down. I thought the rock climb was okay, I didn't really like the wall climb.

I thought the 2 1/2 hour walk was really fun because you got to see animals and all the biggest tree. But then at the end you had to walk on the highway on the way back to the camp. But I loved the hike. It was very fun.

I hope you like to hear a little bit about Camp Collins. Like the cat walk, rock climb, and the nature walk.

Camp Collins

The sixth grade went to Camp Collins. We had a lot of fun. They have a lot of rope activities. The environment part was also fun. And it's just fun to hang out in your village.

At Camp Collins the rope activities are a lot of thought. There is one called the Catwalk where there is a big log between two trees and you have to walk across it. There's a rock wall that you have to climb. And there is also this thing called the spider web where you have to get all your people to the other side without touching it, but you can only use each hole twice.

The environment part was also fun. We got to play games and we had a choice to go on a hike or not. We played catch the flag and it was fun because it was in the woods and it was hard to find the flag. And then we played a game where if you were Red you could eat yellow, but no one could eat you, and if you were yellow you could eat green and if you were green you just have to run. We didn't have to go on the hikes, but other people did.

The girls were in Rotary Village and the boys were in West Village. It's fun just to hang out in your village because then you can get to know the people in your cabin better. And you go to the other cabins too.So if your friend is in another cabins you can see her.

So that's what we did at camp Collins. We did rope activities, environment stuff and just hung out in our villages

Camp Collins was fun, there's one low rope activity it's called the Spider Web. I got put through the top hole. The food at camp is good. I want to go there for summer but I probably won't go.

The food was good. The best meal was the spaghetti and meat balls. The other food was very good too.

The games were fun too. Some of the best games are Capture the Flag in the Forest, and Life and Death in the Forest.

I was the first person to be passed through the top of the spider web. The spider web is a fun activity.

All of the activities were fun. The ones I named were some I thought were the best that I could remember.

Camp Collins

At Camp Collins in the beginning when we first got there I din't know if it would be fun or not. Near the middle we were taught some more games, and at the end, we did some fun rope activities. But all of these or some of these were challenges. I think that the end or the last day was the most challenging.

The first day of the camp was pretty fun. We learned a bunch of new games like sprout ball, chase game partner, life and death which is a game where your deep in the forest and there are 3 groups that eat each other so if you tag someone that you are supposed to eat they have to give one of the rubber bands. So if their rubber bands are gone they are dead.

In the middle we took a hike to the middle of the forest to play life or death. When we got to the middle, the counselors painted us a certain color to indicate who eats who like green is the lowest so they eat noone just trees and plants. The red was the middle which ate the green. And the top is the yellow which eats red and green. The counselors can eat the yellow because no one is after them.

The last day a lot of people didn't want to leave. That day we did ropes. Which was really fun. We got to do mountain climbing. This is a wall that is about 15-20 feet high. You have to climb all the way to the top and ring a bell. You are climbing up by pulling yourself up on the little rock shaped things that are screwed in the wall. It was a lot of fun.

In between all of these we ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was pretty good. The first dinner we had spaghetti and meatballs. The next morning we had pancakes and sausage. At lunch we had tuna or egg salad sandwiches. That night for dinner we had chicken which was grilled.

Justin
Three Things About Camp

Farther in the story you will find out things about the food there, the activities we did for climbing and games we played.

The food we ate there was pretty good and they fed us a lot too. We were never really hungry because they always fed us and at every meal everyone got full. The days we had breakfast we ate pancakes and oatmeal for the two days and for Lunch we had sandwiches and for dinner we had spaghetti and hotdogs for two days.

I learned how to mountain climb too. The first day we did low rope activities like balancing on cable and wires. The second day we climbed a big tower with grip handles and fake rocks with a safety harness on and we had to ring a bell at the top. We also got to walk across a wire about as high as the top powerlines and we also had a safety harness with a roller on the end because we had to walk to a tree and slide back and we had ropes on the side of us to hold onto.

The games we played were pretty fun. Some of them, some of them. We got to play capture the flag but you hid the flag so it was hard to get to it so it was kind of fun. The funnest game probably would be a game when you are an animal and either you are running from an animal or you are running after an animal and this game you got to run all through out the forest hiding and running. That was probably the funnest game because you got to run all through the forest. And if you were running from an animal there were bases you could be safe at and not get eaten.

I hope you liked learning about the activities we did at camp like the food, climbing, and games that were at outdoor school.

Camp

Camp was fun. I'm going to talk about spider's web plate forms and the log. These three things are for fun. The spider's web, the people in my group, we made a lot of touches. We had 4 touches and then we would start over again. One time we were doing the spider's web, we had one more person to go through the web.

The plate forms was hard because they were small and we had to fit everybody in my group on one plate form. We had three touches. We would use two small boards to get to each plate form. There were 3 plate forms.

The log was the hardest because it was all wet. The way we did it was by order of birthdays. The way we did it was we had one person bend down and one person go over them.

Then just in case you forgot what I talked about, I talked about was the spider's web, the plate forms, and the log. I hope you enjoyed learning about those three things.

Camp Collins Activities

At Camp Collins we had a lot of activities. Three of them were tight walk, wall, and Swings. Now let me tell you about them. The tight walk takes place 40 feet above the ground. First you put a harness on and climb the stairs. When you get up there your harness gets hooked to a track slide. Then you hold on to the ropes and walk to the tree. When you get there you push off the tree and track slide back.

The wall is a wooden wall that has pegs in it that you use to climb with. I didn't get to climb it but I wanted to. In a way I climbed it but the high schoolers knocked me down.

The swings are a thing where you start on a log. From the log you go to 3 swings. Than a board that leads to a wire. You have to get all the people on the wire without touching the ground. My group didn't do it but we were close.

At Camp we did the swings, wall, and the tight rope plus more. Those were my favorites activities to do. I like camp. Did you?

Kyle
Camp Skits

In outdoor school during campfire people made up skits and each one can last five to ten minutes. I think the best skits were: 1. The Googo Man(with Joe and Jake) 2: the Morning Wake Up (A-6 girls, A-five boys) 3. the Knight Who Wanted to Marry the Princess (by the camp counselors).

The Googo Man skit is my favorite because it is a way of revenge that was a very well done play. Michael K. was the Googo Man. Kyle T. was the translator and Jake and Joe were the victims. In this Peter says to do what Googo Man does. So they are all dancing around and T. puts a sponge on Jake and Joe's chair and then they sat down and they got their pants wet.

My second favorite is " the Morning Wake Up" because they took toothpaste, shaving cream, and other things. And there is a person behind another person. The person in front put their hands down under their legs, but the one behind him/her puts his/her arms under the front person's and that's when the supplies come into place. The behind person gets the supplies on his hands and spreads it on the front person's face in a wild way. This is also my second favorite because the front person was defenseless. Every front person came back with stuff all over their face.

My 3rd favorite skit is the Knight Who Wanted to Marry the Princess. This is my third favorite skit because they slowed down and sped up. The people who played the part were the high school counselors. What happened is, as in the title, a Knight wanted to marry a Princess and he kills whoever gets in his way.

All the skits in outdoor camp were good but I think these three were the best . Skits helped myself and others socially. It was fun watching people you know do it to. Skits were a great part of camp.
