Camp Collins

I had a really great time at Camp Collins! We did a lot of activities like low and high rope adventures. Some of us went on a 3 hour, 6 mile hike on trails in the woods. At camp we played a lot of games like Life and Death or Capture the Flag and many others. I personally, really enjoyed it there.

At camp there were many rope activities, but most of us didn't do a lot of them. There were rope activities called low and high ropes. I went on two of the high rope adventures and two of the low rope adventures. The first activity I went on was the peanut-butter thing. At the activity you and everyone else on your team stands on one side of the peanut butter pit and you can only hit it 2 times or everyone has to go back to the beginning. The way you play is your whole team has 3 boards that you can step on and you also have a crate. These 4 things are the only things you can touch. The point of this is to get across your whole team.

One of the high ropes was the catwalk. The catwalk is this big log about 25 feet in the air connected to two trees. First you climb up the one tree, you are connected to a harness, then you just walk or run across. It was interesting seeing how much people vary in the way of bravery. Like some made it running across blind-folded, but some only made it up to the first tree. But I think that's really great.

On the first day my group and I went on what was supposed to be a 15 minute 1/4 mile hike but turned out to be a 3 hour, 6 mile hike! That night I was completely exhausted and fell right asleep. On the hike you see a lot of wild-life and get very dirty. I think it was very beautiful and interesting, especially the 210 foot long tree hit by lightening which caused a domino effect with other trees! Interesting, huh?

Many games were played there like Life and Death and Capture the Flag. Life and Death involves rubber bands, carnivores, herbivores, and a meat-plant eater. Your rubber bands are lives and if your tagged you lose a life, or in other words, give a rubber band away. Capture the Flag was very fun and interesting because it was in the woods and way differently ruled than at school in the gym. Also, if you were captured and put in the jail you had to sing to get out. It was a really fun experience and I really enjoyed it.

At camp it was way more fun than I though it would be because of the activities. The rope adventures were probably my favorite. That hike I went on was interesting and a wonderful idea to begin our camp experience. Last, but not least, the games. I think the games were great. I really like Life and Death. So now you know a lot more about Camp Collins.

What We Did at Camp Collins

During my time at Camp Collins I did many things. I will be telling you about some of the things I did. I will start by telling you about meals. Then I will tell you about our cabin. The last thing I will tell you about is the activities.

We had three meals each day. Breakfast was ready and on the table, so when you get there, you could start eating. Lunch was good. We made sandwiches, we had soup, it was all very good. Then dinner came. It was the meal people looked forward to. We had rolls and milk and cloth napkins. Many people might think the food would be bad but it was delicious!

I think being in our cabin was a blast. We had Mike K. and Kyle T. as our counselors. They were very nice to us. We laughed and joked together.

Activities were also very fun. We played a lot of games that had to use teamwork. It was fun. You could do a high wire walk and many other high rope activities. It was fun to get to know people, too.

I had a wonderful time at Camp Collins. I'm sure if you went too you would have fun too. I hope you liked learning about meals, cabin time and activities.

Camp Collins Activities

Camp Collins had lots of rope and wire activities. I am only going to write about three of them. The three I am going to write about are the rock climbing, the spider web, and the one that you had to go kiss the tree.

The first one I am going to write about is the rock climbing. I thought that the rock climbing one was sort of hard and also easy. The part that I thought was hard was when you got half way to the top then there was like five rocks surrounding you and you do not think you could make it any more. I think the easy part is when you first start to go up the wall.

The spider web one was fun for me because it was complicated because we could only use each hole 1 time and not letting the people touch the wires and also trying to find a big hole for some people.

The one where you have to go kiss a tree I thought was sort of hard because you had one thin wire for you to walk on and two thin ropes on each side of you.

I hope you enjoyed learning about my experience at camp.

Joe
Outdoor School

Hello my name is Joe and I'm going to talk to you about our activities, the food, and who our counselors were.

Java our leader said most of our games needed trust. One of our activities was taking a hike through the woods blind-folded. On one of the trails my friend said duck and I couldn't hear him and the next thing I know I hit my head on a tree. Then when my friend was blind-folded I said jump because there was a puddle and he jumped, landed on the back of my heel and we both fell to the ground.

I think the food was ok but the spaghetti we had was good but it gave me a stomach ache.

I think the egg salad was not good and I think it needed sugar. I think the desserts were good and one they were, vanilla pudding and blueberry pie, and sugar cookies. The breakfasts were the best and the dinners were ok.

I think our counselors were awesome. Our counselors were Kyle and Mike. Our Big counselors were Sunny, Java, Alex, Dawson, Lala, Angela, and Shadow. Dawson was the best because he has an English accent and I think Dawson likes to play the drums.

When we went to outdoor school we played games, we did stuff in our cabins, and we ate food.

First when we got there we ate food in our cabins and we played games. The second thing we did was we talked about the rules and we matched up with our groups.

The first activity we did was we went on a like 4 hour hike and it was pretty fun. We also played Sprout Ball and that was fun too. We also played arm tag. Arm tag is when you hook on to another person's arm and you play tag.

Then we ate dinner and we had spaghetti, salad, and pie, and it was all OK. Then we went in our cabins and made up skits and they were called The Speedy skit and we also did the When We Wake Up in the Morning skit and they were fun!

We had to be ready for bed at 9:00 p.m. and lights had to be off at 10:00 p.m. We had to get up at 6:00 a.m. and some of us got up at 7:00. We ate breakfast at 8:00 a.m.

The counselors' names from the camp were Shadow, Alex, Dawson, Sunny, and Lala. The bus ride home was fun and I would go to Camp Collins again. It was fun!!!

Jeff
Skateboarding

I like to skateboard. The three things I am going to tell you are I can do an alle. Second is I can do a kickflip. And the last thing is about the skateboard parks.

My first is how to do an alle. You put your foot on the back of the board and one on the middle of the board and push the back of the board down and your board goes down and then you push forward and that's how you do an alle.

The second thin I am going to tell you is how to do a kickflip. You kind of do the same thing but instead you turn the board instead of pushing forward.

The last thing I'm going to tell you is about the skate park. There is a skate park in Scappoose and St. Helens. The one in St. Helens has a bigger balu and big jumps. Scappoose is kind of dumb compared to the one in St. Helens.

I hope you like my report and I hope you learned how to do an alle and to do a kickflip and more about the skate parks in Scappoose and St. Helens.

Camp Collins

Camp Collins is a really cool place. It has lots of activities that are fun. But at camp the funnest thing was in the cabins because our counselors and the kids. I'm gling to tell you about night one, the second morning, and the second night.

The first night no one could go to sleep, not even the counselors. In the cabin next to ours because people were so loud like Jake and Joe would not go to sleep. They were up and running around the cabin and Michael, our counselor, said whoever made another sound was going to run. Of course Jake made a sound so the whole cabin was going to run in the night. He set his alarm clock on 3:00 in the morning and Jake stayed up the whole night just to see if the alarm clock would go off. He kept Justin up because every time he would say "Justin are you awake?" and Justin didn't say anything, he would hit him with a pillow. But the clock never rung and we didn't have to run.

The next day in the morning after that long first night Mrs. Olson's class came running around our cabin pounding on the windows and it woke me up and our counselors gave us permission to chase them down and bring them to him. After that we went to breakfast and I spilt about everything there was to spill and Dustin "coffee man" he had two cups and Mrs. Olson got mad at him.

The second night we had a wrestling match and I guess the girls did too anyway we went to bed early and during the night Derek A., the best quarterback in the nation, came into the cabin and put shaving cream all over Michael K. and Michael got sooooooo mad! He started yelling and he chased Derek out of the room but K. T., our other counselor stopped Mike when he challenged Derek to a fist fight and that was the most exciting part of camp.

Camp Collins was a blast in the activities and in our cabins. I wish I could do it again but I can't. I hope you liked learning about the cabins and what they were like when I was there in the first night, the second morning, and the second night.

Amber
Camp Collins Skits

Camp was fun and the thing I liked most were the skits, especially "Gum" because it was funny, "Speedy Got Ran Over by a Bus" because we got to do it over and over, and one we got to do with anyone how we want, "Hands" because we got to make people look like fools for the audience.

"Gum" I thought was funny because when Jennifer put the gum on the floor then people stepped on it everyone started laughing. Then after the 2nd person, I came by and acted like a janitor, and then after that Ashley came by after stepping in dog poop, then stepped in the gum and at the end Jennifer came by and picked up the gum and ate it.

"Speedy Got Ran Over by a Bus" was so much fun because we got to experience how it was like to be a real life actor. We went through all different tempos and speed like fast, slow, happy, and sad, and at the end we got to chase Ann Marie off stage for bossing us around.

The "Hands" skit was my favorite because Jennifer was my buddie and she was supposed to keep her hands behind her back and I was supposed to put my hands where her hands were and the scene we were doing was morning so we woke up we stretched and my favorite part brushed their teeth then washed their face and after that we brushed their hair and for the boys the nad shaved the opposite person's face with a no-blade razor.

I hope you can relate to my fun at Camp Collins when you were watching the funny, foolish, and boring (not) skits.

Camp Collins Rope Acitivites

At Camp Collins they have a lot of fun stuff. You can go on a rope around 60 feet high, try to get everyone over a high wall, or you can climb a 30 ft. high wall with rocks in it. Would you do any of these?

My favorite activity is the fall. There is a rope about 60 feet up in the air. You have to get a harness on first. Then you had to climb big metal staples about 2 inches long about 50 feet high up a tree. You get lots of sap on you when you climb the tree. Then you have to get around the rope that you walk on because the pulley's on the other side. After that you can reach way out to grab on a rope that's connected to both trees, or you can grab ropes connected to a cable above you that dangle down every 4 1/2 feet once you're on the cable. Once you get on the rope you have to make your way to the other tree which is about 30 feet, you go back to the middle, and fall backwards. The fall is the funnest part. He lets you go pretty fast then stops you.

One of the other high rope activities is the wall. It's a wooden wall about 8 feet high. You have to get everyone over the wall, but once you geto over the wall, you have to stay over there. You can still help people get over by pulling them over from the top though. The hardest part was getting the last person up. You have to jump pretty high to get to the top of the wall and make it easy for everyone else.

The final activity that we did was a 30 feet high wall that had rocks to hang on to. You put a harness on, climb a 90 degree angle to the top. In the middle were there was only 1 rock, that one rock spun. It was really hard to get past that rock. You could get a foot hold on that rock but that was hard.

I hope that you know more about the fall, the wall, and the rock wall, so you know what to expect when you go to Camp Collins. Would you do any of these activities?

David
Camp Counselors

Hello my name is David. I will be talking about three camp counselors. Which is Kyle T., Michael K., and Chris with the overflow.

Kyle T. is really cool. I'm glad he was my cabin counselor. I know him before this because he works where my mom works. He is one of my friends. He was not mean at camp. He was one of the nicest counselors there I think.

Michael K. was one of my cabin counselors. He was nice but he knew what he was doing. He was the one that kept the cabin in control. He was awesome. When we would be good he would let us play games in the cabin.

Chris was my favorite. He was really nice to me. He was really tall. He was 6'6". I would be his partner a lot. He was not in my cabin. He was with the overflow. I would still see him a lot though.

I had a lot of fun at camp with all the cool counselors and everything to do there.

Mike
Outdoors School

At Camp Collins we did some really neat activities. My favorites where The Wall, The Log, and The Spider Web.

The Wall is obviously a wall. It has fake stones that are shaped in different ways bolted all over it. Some of them are made to be good grips for hands, some for good footing, and some for both. Before you climb The Wall, you get into a helmet and harness. Once you have them on you wait for the person who was climbing before you to finish and come down. Then they attach the harness to a long rope witch goes up The Wall, around a pulley, and back down to the ground to one of the camp councilors who is also wearing a harness. The rope attaches to the harness of the councilor on the ground so he can catch you if you fall. Once you are hooked up to the rope you step up to the wall and say "Climber," and the councilor says "Climb away." Then you start climbing the wall and you think, "Hey this isn’t so hard," until you get to this certain spot. It’s about twelve feet up and there is nothing to grip. There is one rock that has a grip on the bottom, witch suggests that it was kicked and turned upside-down. Being a fairly straightforward person I grabbed onto the rock, twisted it, and then proceeded to climb to the top of the wall. At the top of The Wall there is a bell. When (or if) you make it to the top, you ring the bell and the councilor will let you jump the side of the wall to the ground.

Next I will talk about The Log. As with The Wall, you are in a harness attached to a rope throughout this activity. Once you have the harness on you climb up a tree on big staples, like they have on telephone poles, until you are about 40 to 50 feet up. At that point there is a log. You have to get up onto the log and walk across the log to the tree on the other side. Once there you have to kiss the tree and turn around. When you are turned around you walk back to the middle of the tree and just fall straight back off the log. That’s right, straight back. If you fell any other way you could get hurt so you have to fall straight back. After you fall down you shake for a little while, but after that you’re fine and ready to go onto the next activity.

Last but not least on my list is The Spider Web. As you may have guessed from the tittle, The Spider Web is a web of robes. There are many holes in the web of various shapes and sizes. The object of the game is to get all the people in your group through the holes, without touching the sides of the holes. You may only use each hole once. This requires you to lift people (or be lifted yourself) in your group up and through the holes.

In conclusion I think all the activities at Camp Collins where really fun. I hope you enjoyed reading about my three favorites, The Wall, The Log, and The Spider Web.

Camp Collins Counselors

When I went to camp I liked three counselors the best. They are Racheal, Kindra, and Alex. Alex is one of the main counselors.

My favorite one is Alex because he was so funny and he made me laugh a lot. Alex was from England. He also had an English accent so that even sounded funny just him talking to me.

My second favorite counselor was Kindra because she was really nice and she came up with all of our skits my cabin did. Kindra was also really quiet until she got to know our class better.

My third favorite was Racheal because she was really quiet at camp but she was still nice. Racheal would never help my cabin with a skit either, she just let Kindra do it. Racheal also had to leave for a day so I didn't really get to know her as good as I wanted.

I hope you have three favorite counselors like I have, but they don't have to be the same as mine.

Camp Collins Trip

On Wednesday, May 31, I went to Camp Collins. It was so neat there. The animals that you saw, the smell of the forest, and how nice the people were there. They also kept you very busy with all the activities, and that's what I'm going to talk to you about. I will tell you about the game activities, the rope activities, and the campfire activities.

The first activity was the game activity. We played lots of games but I will just name my favorite. My favorite games were life and death, partner tag, and capture the flag. Life and death was about trying to survive. You were either a herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, or a hunter. This game is basically like hide and seek tag. The hunter eats the omnivore, the omnivore eats the carnivore, the carnivore eats the herbivore, and the herbivore just tries to stay alive.

The game partner tag you had partners. There was a chaser and a runner. The runner could hook on to someone else then they would have to run. It got very tiring afterward but it was still fun.

Finally the last game capture the flag. I liked that game a lot. The point of the game is to get your opponent's flag before they get yours. I liked where we played the game. We played the game on the beach. There were lots of places you could hide or sneak up on the other players. When I was playing I slipped and fell in the mud. I got all dirty and had to go back to the cabin and change.

The second activity was the rope activity. The only rope activities that we did was rock climbing, the high rope, and the wall. The counselors who worked with us were Alex and Dawson. When I was rock climbing you were in a harness, it took a lot of concentration. It was a lot of hard work but I made it to the top. After I was done my arms felt like they were bulging out.

The high rope was about 45 feet high. You had to climb up a tree with huge staples to climb up on the wire. I was the very last person to go because I was scared. Everyone was telling me to go up and at least try even Alex. So I got strapped up and started climbing. I went all the way across and back to the middle. You won't believe how we got down. We had to lean back and drop off the wire and Alex gently lowered me down. I felt really dizzy after I got down.

The wall was about teamwork. We had to get ll our teammates over this wall four times. It was pretty difficult, but we did it.

The third activity was the campfire. The campfire was when all the cabins join together by the campfire. There were rows of seats with a stage in front of them. Kids from other classrooms would go up and do skits. We could also sing songs. My favorite skit was when the knight came to marry the princess by Alex and Dawson.

I really enjoyed Camp Collins and the game, rope, and campfire activities that we did. I thought it was really fun and I hope you did too.

Shawn
What Outdoor School Was Like

Camp Collins was fun and exciting and it had fun stuff. I like the high ropes. Next I liked the spider web. We had to work together. It put them across the strings to the other side. I like the thing when we had to get everybody across the pallet board and try not to get any touches.

The food was good and sometimes cold. The rolls were not good. The first day we got we had to make our own lunch. What we did for dinner we had spaghetti for dinner and salad. Then we had half an hour to go back to our cabins. Then we had to go down and sit by the campfire and sing songs and do skits.

The next day we had for dinner was chicken, rice and salad. Then we did the same thing. Then we played games the next day and we went up for lunch and then we got ready to go home.

It was boring on the way home.

Terrah
Outdoor School Counselors

Outdoor school was really fun. We did lot of stuff and to help us the counselors were there. Their names were Shadow, Dawson, and Alex.

The first counselor's name was Shadow. He was really nice. When we were in his group we played life or death, and capture the flag.

The next counselor's name was Dawson. He was really cool. We did ropes in his group and this one thing where we would climb and fall to the ground. I forgot the name but it was a lot of fun.

The third counselor's name was Alex. I wasn't in his group, but he was still cool. He was nice because he didn't pick on me like the other counselors did and he was really funny.

At outdoor school my three favorite counselors were Shadow, Dawson, and Alex.

Matt
Outdoor School Activities

Outdoor school was fun because we got to do all kinds of activities like climb across the high wire. It was kind of scary but not scary enough.

Michael, Kyle, and Tyson are the best. Kyle was my brother. Tyson was my buddy. Then Michael was my bro. He helped me when Joe picked on me. Kyle was the best. I always wore his hat and sun glasses. Tyson was nice. He was really cool to me.

The high wire was fun because it was moving around. It felt like I was going to fall, but I didn't fall and then I got across and swung back.

When we left Kyle sat by me and I fell asleep on the bus. I didn't want to leave.
