Reflections on Drama and Real Life

Roman life was about making money. I think. They were funny and they seemed to want to have a good time. I think they wanted to make money because they had huge outside theaters and people had to pay to see their plays. Romans did funny plays because that's the type of Roman play we did.

Greek life was about not thinking your better than the Gods. When your too proud or think your better than the gods, you get punished. The Greeks weren't very funny, they were afraid of the after life. Punishments were like deaths in the family and stuff like that.

The play "Electra" tells about the lifestyle of the Greeks. I will tell you what that is. In the play there is a lot of sadness,. People die and others grieve it for years. Some people never stop. Greek people are concerned about being loyal to the gods. Many people revolve around the gods.

The play "Pot of Gold" tells you about the life styles of the Romans. I will tell you what their lifestyle is like. In this play there is lots of comedy. People are all mixed up. The romans are concerned about having lots of money. They aren't very concerned about the gods though.

The play Electra is a Greek tragedy. It has a lot of deaths in it. It's with a royal family that was too proud and thought they were better than the gods. Like when Aegisthus and Clytemnestra died in the play. Life must have been very hard because people were dying all the time and being punished by the gods.

Pot of Gold, a play from Rome, is a comedy. It is very hilarious. People in Rome were really worried about being rich and present time. Like in the play when Euclio is worried where he should hide his gold and when Eumonia said, "Don't worry, I'll find you a girl with a rich dowry."

"Electra" is a Greek tragedy. This play is very deep "Electra" tells you how Greek people acted. They really admired the gods and goddesses. They were really careful not to offend the gods. They could never be too proud.

"Pot of Gold," a Roman play, is kind of strange. This play tells you that Roman people were very concerned about Money! They would hide their money or show it off. Take Euclio and Megadorus for example. Euclio hides his money, but Megadorus show off his money. Strange, huh.

I learned that the most important thing in Rome was money and how good life was. An example was like when Euclio's pot of god was stolen and he was all worried, and when Strobilus told the story when Euclio went to get his toe nails clipped he took the clippings with him. Another way I learned how important money was like when Congrio says, "He can't even afford a dinner for his daughter, it doesn't cost very much!"

The most important thing in Greece was not to be too proud or think your better than the gods, or goddesses. For example, how Electra is always mourning for her father. I think life must have been really hard for her of how her father died. Another example would be when Electra says, "Your hour will come," and Clytemnestra says, "Who will silence me, you and your brother Orestes?" Think it sounds kind of evil.

A Christmas Carol teaches us what the life in London, England, was like back then. In the story it sounds like life in London, England was very hard especially with all the poor and homeless people. In the story Scrooge is a very grumpy man and doesn't believe in Christmas and doesn't want to give any money to the poor.

The Pot of Gold teaches us about what kind of plays they used to do and how they did them. In the play everyone is greedy. They all want money in the play and one of the servants tries to steal Euclio's gold and he wouldn't give it back. This shows us that some Roman plays had greed in them.

Pot of Gold. I think Romans like would be happy. The plays are comedies and people who write comedies are probably happy. The man who wrote this might be rich. He might be famous.

A Christmas Carol. I think people in this time would be sad. Everybody is poor and rich people are mean. They send poor people to Australia.

Electra tells you about Greek ways of living. Life in that time was probably hard. People shouldn't think they are better than the gods.

The Pot of Gold tells you that money shouldn't make you suspicious of everyone. Money should be used as a privilege not the most important thing to you. I though both plays taught important things.

The Romans were into having fun. They always wanted to have fun. The government only cared about how the people got along with each other. The Romans were very civilized also. Because in the play was mostly comedy.

The Greeks were more into tragedy than comedy. They always cared about the gods and the royalties. The Greeks always wrote tragedies.

Electra tells us about Greek life is about the gods. They were always worried about being a good person or not. If they were too proud or not. If they were too proud they will be punished. In the play some people killed others for wrong doing.

A Pot of Gold is a comedy. Roman people liked entertainment. They like blood and gore too. They weren't like the Greeks at all. The play we did had an old man that was weird, silly, and mean.

When you lived in the times of Electra, you had to be careful how you acted. You could not be too proud or think you were better than the gods. If you though that then the gods would punish you. In the play Agamemnon made a goddess mad and the goddess wouldn't let him sail freely through the water without winds and rains.

The Pot of Gold was a comedy. A stingy old man found a pot of gold. He made sure it was safe all day. He lost his gold and was sad. They found it again, but he gave it away. In Roman times, you shouldn't be too greedy and stingy.
