Dear Mrs. Huffman,
My name is Melody. I sit by the back door. I have medium length blonde hair. I always wear a gray and blue sweat shirt. I absolutely love animals. Especially hamsters, guinea pigs, and cats. They are my favorites. I think my best quality is I'm very lucky. I'm about to tell you how I found out.
Last Saturday I was very upset because my hamster escaped from her cage two weeks ago. Anyway, like any other Saturday I went to the kitchen for breakfast. My parents were in he breakfast nook reading the paper. When I looked down to say good morning to my cat, I noticed that she was acting rather strange. Well, I got down a cup for some milk. I looked to see if my cat was acting normal. I saw she was looking down at something. I pushed my cat out of the way to see what it was. It as my hamster. I put down the cup so she could climb in. That's how we found my hamster. You could say she found us.
Sincerely,
Melody
My Cat is Good at Just About Anything
Winter, 1999
My cat, Little One, is good at just about everything. We, my mom , my brother, and I, got her in Vernonia, OR at a store called Century. This store was right by our house. We were just going for food when se saw a box with two kittens in it. On the box was a sign that said "Free Kittens." There was two ladys standing by the box. One was giving them away. The other was just looking at the kittens. My brother and I begged my mom to get one. The lady that was just looking at the kittens said, "If you get one I will." So they agreed and we took the little black one. At first we were calling her cupcake because she looked like a cup cake with black on tip and white on the bottom. We all decided on Little One.
A little bit after we got her she became a mother. A good mother at that. She spent day and night caring for them We even had to bring her food and water cause she wouldn't get up. Well eventually we gave away two of her kittens and kept one and named her Curly cause her tail was curled. When Curly was about 1 Little One was about two Little One was pregnant again and her new kittens, Elroy and Dorra, were very well cared for. When we moved to Scappoose, OR, to a log cabin Curly had kittens and we kept two. When Curly's kittens were still real little Curly would leave as often as she could. Little One, Curly's mom, would drag her in to take care of her kittens (she dragged Curly in to care for Curly's kittens). Once Curly was there Little One wouldn't let her leave.
The next thing we noticed was that Little One was a good hunter. She was teacher her kittens and Curly's kittens to hunt too. Little One would catch the moles that were digging up our yard and pesky field mice. She would never waste her catch. First she would bring it to us and we didn't want it so she would bring it to Elroy and Dorra to eat. If they did not eat it she would.
Then we found out that she was a good protecter. In fact even to this day she follows us everywhere we go. We have to lock her in the house just for her to stay. She won't let us out of her sight. She thinks it is her job to protect us or something.
My cat is also a good snugaler. She could cuddle with you all night. She can be so so so sweet. She will roll over on her back and roll back and fourth and she looks so cute. I'm really truely very so much glad she is my pet and a part of my family.
