About Honus and Me
by Dean

This story takes place in Louisville, Kentucky probably around the early 90's in a little town that is big on baseball.

The main person in this story is Joe better known as "Stosh" by Honus. Stosh is a boy that collects baseball cards and plays baseball too, although he isn't that great.

In the beginning Stosh is cleaning an old lady's house, her name was Amanda Young. She told Stosh to clean out her attic and while he was cleaning, a sports card fell out of a box he picked it up and realized it was a T-206 from 1909 of Honus Wagner.

My prediction of what he was going to do with the card. I didn't think he would give the card back to the lady because it's worth too much money.

Stosh took the card home and went to bed and the next morning he woke up and saw a man in a baseball uniform, the man said he was Honus Wagner of course Stosh didn't believe him.

Towards the end of the story Stosh found out that his card of Honus could go back in time so he goes back to 1909. In 1909 it was probably easier to get a job as a sports player than now.

The author's skill in this story was excellent because he brings to gether a fiction and fact story about sports cards and Honus.

About Honus and Me
by Daniel

The setting is just your average city about a kid named Joe Stoshack. Some of his friends call him Stosh. He's just one of the people in the settings. There is also a card shop near Stoshes house. Thats where Stosh gets his cards.

Stosh is a kid who began to love cards on one day he touched the baseball card and got a feeling. A feeling that he didn't get with any other card and he began to love them the first time he touched one. He meets a famous baseball player with a card.

One time Stosh wanted to earn some money so he could buy some more baseball cards. So he went to the old lady next door named Amanda young. She never went out of her house. People thought she was a freak. Well, Stosh went over and asked if he could earn a few bucks. He gets told to clean Amanda's attic. While cleaning, he finds a very good baseball card, freaks out, and races out of the house happy. He thinks about what he did and keeps it.

I predicted that Stosh would think twice and think to be more loyal, and give it back to the lady. He would not feel so guilty. But one problem about that, he would be flat broke. I thought he would give the $5,000,000 card back. I was wrong.

About Honus and Me
by Kate

This story was probably in the 1980's. I thought it was in the 1980's because collecting cards were popular then and in this story they talk about baseball cards a lot. The story takes place in Louisville, Kentucky. The setting are the baseball field, Joe's house, and Amandas house.

Joe's last name is Stoshack. Joe is probably about 12 or 13 years old. Joe likes to collect baseball cards. Joe plays baseball too. Je is a seventh grader. Joe's neighbor is Amanda Young.

Joe found the baseball card of Honus in Amanda Young's attic. Hoe was cleaning Amanda Young's attic for 10 dollars. Hoe was planning to buy some baseball cards with the 10 dollars. Amanda told Joe to take everything in the attic and throw it in the garbage. Joe took the card of Honus without asking Amanda. The card of Honus is worth a lot of money. It's worth a lot of money because a tobacco company took his picture without him knowing and put them in cigarette packs to make more money.

I predicted that Joe would give the baseball card of Honus back to Amanda. I think that because it was Amanda's and not Joe's in the first place. If Joe would take it he would be steeling. Amanda told Joe to throw everything away anyways.

In 1909 when Joe went back in time it was very different than the years of the 1980's. The prices for seats at the ball games were extremely cheap. They also dressed differently in the year 1901. When Joe went back to 1901 he was then Butts Wagner, Honus Wagner's brother. Joe even looked different and much taller.

I think that the author did a good job writing this story. He used a couple different settings. I liked that. I wouldn't like it if he used just one or two settings. I liked it when Joe went back in time to 1901. It was cool when Joe got to play in the game. I think that the author has a lot of skill.

About Honus and Me
by Matt

The setting is a small town in Kentucky. The town is called Louisville. A lot of people are probably poor.

Joe Stoshack is a baseball player. He is not popular in school because he looks weird. Him and his mom live in a house and they're poor.

Joe was cleaning Amanda Young's attic. A card fell out. It was the Honus Wagner card.

I predicted that Stosh would sell the card and get 1 half million dollars. But Joe's mom said give it back to Mrs. Young. He doesn't.

Stosh meets Honus the night he gets the card. In the morning Honus was gone.

1909 was neat. Joe got to see a game and got to play. In 1909 Joe was a adult and saw a picture of Amanda Young.

I thought the authors skill was good. I like the story and I think other people liked it too. He made the story good by making the reader want to come back and read more.
