About Honus and Me
by Kayla

The story Honus and Me has more than one setting. The settings are the baseball field, his house, the old lady's house, and the card shop. The old lady's house is very creepy and dusty. On the baseball field, Stosh always strikes out. When Stosh was in the card shop he got some tips from the owner about the card.

Stosh is a good kid. He is kind, he cleaned out Ms. Youngs attack, the old lady. Stosh isn't that good at baseball. He strikes out a lot. He lives next door to an old lady named Ms. Young. He cleaned out her attack and found a very valuable card.

Stosh found the card when he was cleaning. He was cleaning Ms. Young's attack and found the card. He didn't give it back when he found it. He found out that it was a valuable card and there were only a few of them.

I think that Stosh will ask if he could keep the card. I think that because he admires Honus Wagner and Stosh's teacher told him to think about what the person he admires would do. The person he admires would be kind and ask first. I know that because Honus gave his winning money to the boy's home.

Stosh meet Honus in his room. Honus was a ghost. They practiced baseball and hitting. Honus scared Stosh at first, but then realized who he was. Stosh was surprised that Honus Wagner was a ghost in his own bedroom.

In 1909 it was different. The benches on the baseball fields were wood. The amount of money you had to pay for things was cheeper. The baseball fields didn't have dugouts, and the baseball player's got payed way less than they do now.

The writer is making it interesting by building up tense. He tells a lot of details like it was an old and dusty house. He makes you think about what you think Stosh is going to do. He builds up tense by making you want to read the whole story. I thought that it was a good, kind of weird, interesting story.

Sincerely,
Kayla

About Honus and Me
by Tyler

The settings were in Amanda's house and Stosh's house. Amanda's attic and Stosh's baseball feild and Honus's feild.

Stosh was a kid who liked sports and sports cards. He loved baseball. He also has lots of dreams. He also wasn't that popular, he wasn't that good at baseball either.

Stosh found the card when he was cleaning out Amanda Young's attic for money. He saw a box. Mrs. Young told him to throw that stuff away. He looked in it and there was the card.

I thought Stosh would ask Mrs. Young if he could have the card, but I was wrong. What really happened was Birdie (the card store owner) and Stosh were fighting and Mrs. Young came out and tore it up.

Stosh met Honus when he was on his bed with the card in his hands. He wished he could meet Honus to see what he was like. And that night Honus appeared in his room.

In 1909 things were a lot cheaper, but stuff still costed a lot. There was a lot less cars. The seats were in different places. The jerseys were different. Also there were newspapers under the seats.

I think the authors skill is good. He puts in good details. He makes the story go nice and slow. I would give him an eight.

There are several different settings. The setting takes place in Louisville, Kentucky. In the beginning of the story Joe Stoshack is up to bat at a baseball game. Another setting is in Amanda Young's house and Attic.

Joe Stoshack (Stosh) is a boy about 12 or 11 years old. Stosh is a person that likes to collect Baseball cards. His dad had started him in on collecting cards. His family is poor so when there was a hole in his shoes he would tack one that wasn't worth much and put it in his shoe.

When Stosh found a card with Honus on it up in Miss Youngs attic when he was clinning it out. A box had fell over and a bunch of stuff scadered. He went and picked it all up. He had then just found a Honus Wagner card. He just took it and left with out asking.

I predicted that Stosh would give back the card to Miss Young., but he might wait a while. In the story that made me predict that was when Stosh said that "I wont necessary give it back." He also knows it is the right thing to do.

That night Stosh held the card and started to get this tingling sensation. Just before he fell a sleep he had wished he could met Honus Wagner. When he woke up he saw Honus in his room. At first he didn't believe his eyes but he knew it was real.

1909 was probably wired for Stosh. The streets were paved like now, but all of the buildings were old. All the baseball players would get ready in the hotels in stead of the stadium. The prices for seats were cheap and you could sit in a box seat. When the game started Stosh noticed that the balls don't fly well.

I think the author did a good Job. The humor was really good. Honus is the person with the most funniest parts. He had brought in the humor. Everything in the story was all pretty good to me. So if I wanted to I would read it.

About Honus and Me

I recommend this book to baseball card collectors and baseball fans. This book has every thing. Time travel, world series, and a whole lot of money involved.

The setting of this story starts at a school baseball field. Stosh, a seventh grader, is talking to the reader.

Then the setting is at Stoshes house. Then he is in Miss Young's, his neighbors house cleaning the attic, where he finds the honus card.

Stosh is what they call Joe Stoshack. He is in 7th grade and loves baseball. He spends most of his money on baseball cards.

Like I said he found the card in his neighbor Miss Youngs house. He was cleaning the attic and a box bottom fell through and when he was putting the stuff back in the box he found the card. He didn't tell Mis Young because it was worth a lot of money and he thought she was practically dead already what would she do with the money.

I predicted that he would walk around with it for a while, and then decide it was wrong to take it.

This part of the story was really weird. See when he was holding the card and suddenly his room was different and Honus was there. The card took him back to 1909.

1909 was very weird. The stadium was made of wood and instead of a gate holding people from going into the baseball field there was a rope. Also there was no dugouts just a bench.

I think the author did very well describing what it is like in 1909. He did a great job describing the attic the card and Miss Young.
