The Legal System
May, 1999 - A-6 Visits Scappoose Municipal Court
Case of the Disappearing CopDonald Duck was getting ready to go to work. He was going to go with Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Then he got a call and Donald answered. It was Dr. Coocoo. He said come on in today to get your eyes checked.
Okay said Donald. I'll do that. So he got in his car and he started driving his car to the doctors then he got too close to the car in front of him. He didn't notice till he was pulled over and given a ticket.
He came to court, and then his name was called first so he was all ready with a speech and a person that drove him there. But lucky Donald. He didn't have to explain to the judge because you have to give the court 24 hours notice if you're not going to show up and the police officer that gave Donald the ticket wasn't there. So his case was dismissed.

Case of the Shouldn't Be Ruth Rolling-Along has moved for the fourth time and was just settling in. Ruth was driving to the store when she realized that she was being followed by a policeman. She then pulled to the side of the road and got a ticket for a suspended license and no insurance. The car did belong to her but she didn't know that her insurance was expired. The suspension of her license was totally out of her mind. She was fined $200. She went to court and still got the same price until she said she had moved four times and was living with a person under drug influence. Her bail was then dropped to $140 just because she explained her case. | |

Stacey went to court and stated that she didn't see a speed sign on the corner she turned. She said she was guilty because she couldn't see the sign. The judge was somewhat nice to her. Stacey said she had a good record and would never do it again. The judge gave her a $150 fine and Stacey agreed to pay $50 a month.
