Dear Mrs. Huffman,

My name is Brittany. I have blue eyes and light brown hair. I sit by the chalk board. I have noticed that I enjoy naming animals. I like watching their actions and naming them by what they do.

On Thanksgiving night my cousins guinea pig had 6 babies. They were so adorable. and I begged my mom for 1. She said OK but I would have to wait 1 month.

Finally the day came. We drove over there and saw my cousin. We went to pick them out. My cousin had already named them all. I found a cute little black and brown one. They had named him Bold. I hated it. What would I name him. Well anyway I needed a box to take him home in. She gave me an old box that said Martens Wood. My cousin had made it. When we got him home we put him in a wire cage.

I was looking at his actions when I saw the box that said Marten Wood.

That's it. Marten is his name.

Gretta
Winter, 1999

My dog is a white lab and her name is Gretta.

We found her on Vernonia highway, on a very rainy day, she was trying to get up a big hill. We finally let her in my car, so she would not get hit by a car.

We are not sure how old she is, but we think she is about 1 ½ years old. We also know she loves to chew on things one time we got home and our house was a disaster. She had chewed up a blanket, she got in big trouble.

But most of the time she is a cute little dog. Sometimes she is so sweet you could hug her.

About a month ago she started itching her skin. Then a week later she started bleeding. So my mom took her to the vet. They gave her a perscription but it didn't work. Then they took some tests and found out she was allergic to beef. So they gave her special biscuits.

Gretta is a great dog and we have had a lot of fun and trouble with her. But over all she's great!
