A-6 Field Trip to the Portland Art Museum
Splendors of Imperial Japan![]()
The Artifacts of Japan
I thought that all the pictures and artifacts were cool, but most of all I liked the samurai men and the swords. I liked the bronze spears that the samurai men held and the armor was awesome! The samurai swords were in there cases I wish they shown the blades, though it was alright in the cases.
The bronze temple mixed with other metals reminded me when my oldest brother brought pictures back from Japan. He said he walked a thousand steps up hill to a Buddhist temple.
When we were walking up stairs I saw a really weird canoe I didn't know if it was native American or Japanese. A statue that I liked that was up stairs was the incense burner it had little demons at the bottom of it.
One of the biggest pictures I've ever seen in my life is in that museum. It is the one with the Portugese who traveled to Japan, it showed the Portugese trading with the Japanese.
Now that you know more about Japan go to the museum and look at the art it is really amazing if you cant go to Japan look at the art museum to see what Japan is like.

I really liked the silk waves, and the Samurai, I also thought the cloisonne vases were really cool.
I wonder why there were so many incense burner. I learned that they used many different materials.
They use many different birds. They have many different vases. They use dragons, demons, and fish. Temples and different things had bells which was a symbol of pride going to heaven. I would go back to see all the different designs.

Portland Art Museum
What I liked about the Portland art museum was the incense burners. What I thought was cool was the silk waves. I can't believe one man owns all of the items. Each item is about well over 10mil$ each. If I had that kind of money to spend I'd be there every day. Some parts were boring but the rest was good.
The second thing I liked was all of the tea pots. Then samaurais were pretty cool, especially the swords. Just one sword was worth about 1$ million dollars. I learned that the Japanese are very in touch with their religion. The museum was filled with silk woven pictures.
The third thing I liked was the welded pieces of metal in swirly circles. I probably could make that. They had gold leaves and a whole bunch of weird art like naked ladies statues. That was the thing that caught everybody's attention. It almost got me in trouble.
The fourth thing I thought was cool and funny was the bums sleeping in the park. My friend yelled wake up but he just rolled over. And the guide lady did not have a sense of humor but I had fun. That was my essay on the PORTLAND ART MUSEUM.

My Trip to the Portland Art Museum
By, Amanda R.
I enjoyed the trip. I think the artifacts were cool, and if I had billions of billions of dollars. I would have gotten some things.
My favorite things there was, was some Chester drawers that were lined with gold and had a lot of animals on them. I also liked the dragon that was holding the world, and it had dragons all over the world..Also the dragon that was holding the vase with flowers on it..I also liked the dragon that was rapped around the world.
I also thought the vase that had flowers on it and had a blue tint to it..I also thought the purple metallic vase was pretty..The pictures of the three HORSES were beautiful...Also the dogs that were catching the fist in the swamp. But my favorite thing there was, was a one of those things in the olden days that they had to change behind..The one that I saw was one that had lots of people and animal on it, it was also lined with gold.
I enjoyed my trip to the Portland Art Museum thoroughly.. I hope you enjoyed my report and will visit it soon..

My favorite piece was the Ivory boy with the chicken. My second favorite piece was the Dragon holding the Crystal Ball and my third favorite was the statue of the Demons. The ickiest ones were the woman nude. I had a fun time looking at the pictures and statues and the vases taller than me but I didn't like standing on my feet so much my feet hurt a lot. I hope I can go again with my family.

MY TRIP TO THE ART MUSEUM
The trip was good. thing I like was the pieces of furniture and the cloisonne vase and the pictures that made of silk yarn. The people who work there are nice. Some more stuff I liked were the drawings and statues and the speeches they gave us.

Japanese Exhibit
The Japanese art work was cool, but I liked the waves that were made of silk threads and paint, the fact that they were only two colors was cool, too.
I liked the samauries and their weapons, too. Their swords are the strongest swords in the world.
The incense burners were sweet! The demons on them were very detailed, some of the incense burners were at least twelve feet tall!
What amazed me the most was that the four most used materials were gold, silver, copper, and bronze, VERY expensive!

Art Museum
When we went to the Art Museum the first thing I saw was a big incense burner. On it there were demons, and birds. The first room we saw I really liked the statue with a big cockatoo. The Japanese liked the bald eagle on their big incense burners. On a lot of vases they had fish or birds. I liked the crystal balls too. In some of the rooms there were naked people it was really sick. They had cloisonne vases. Some were really, really small for one flower then big at the bottom. She showed us these elephants that looked like they had Abraham Lincoln's hat on their backs. The samurai's looked really weird. The demons bellies were like a six pack but with a big stomach. On the way back to school I fell asleep.
