A-6 Field Trip to the Portland Art Museum
Splendors of Imperial Japan![]()
MY FIELD TRIP TO THE ART MUSEUM
I liked the threaded pictures. How when you walked by them it looked like a hologram. I liked the samaurai guys too. I thought the little evil guys holding up the big bowl were really scary. The cloisonne vases were pretty cool also. My favorite painting was the one of the emperor and his wife. I really liked the colors. I also really liked the bird sculptures. How they looked so real. I really, really liked the ornaments. There were fish, and a big leave with a bird and some bugs on it. Another thing I liked was the elephant sculptures holding up these really tall things, because it was made out of many different things. And I liked the boy holding the chicken. It was made out of ivory. In all I thought the museum was pretty cool. A little boring but still cool.

Field Trip to the Portland Art Museum
When I got to see the paintings some of them were cool, but others I didn't really like. My favorites were the silk paintings that moved when you walk by.
Some I didn't really like, I mean the ones I didn't like were the ones I that you could reach out touch the painting and it would seem real and alive. Everyone could do it and see it, but I couldn't.
I already knew a little bit about Japan and a lot of which she told us I already knew. But I thought the Japanese would have fancy Japan furniture in their homes. But I really enjoyed the field trip all around.

My 1st Field Trip This Year!
On the 12th of September, we went to the Portland art museum to learn about Japan. The most important thing in the art museum was the crystal ball. The crystal ball is very important to the Japanese. I will tell you why.
Long ago there was a man who found the crystal ball. He believed that the crystal ball had the power to change the tides. So he brought it to the heavens to show his sister. She picked it up and threw it, and that is how the islands of Japan was made.
I liked a lot of things in the art museum. Some of my favorite things are the crystal ball, the pictures of the different kinds of animals, and the many kinds of vases. I also liked the little dressers.
Last year I went with Mrs. Bushaw's class. When we went the topic was drawings and paintings. We seen lots of pictures of the ocean, people, and animals. I forgot the authors name but I do remember what the picture looked like. It was a picture of his girlfriend crying. Her skin was green, and both her eyes were on the same side.
It was fun to go to the Portland art museum. I hope we can go again some time again this year. I hope the next time we go it will be on Indians.

by SamThere was lots of swords demons and most aren't mean some just play tricks on you. I saw four hundred years old plants. They had samaurai statues. Lots of incense holder six or seven feet tall.
They had old Japanese workers statues. Lots of myths tales. Dragon crystal balls that made islands. They had ivory. It comes form elephants any way they made statues of it. I think they made two. They had silk pictures. They had cool Japanese vases that you put flowers in.

Our Field Trip to the Art Museum
The things I thought were cool were the vases, the waves and crystal balls, and the samaurais. I just thought many things were so beautiful especially the vases. It was interesting how the tour guide had a story for almost everything, The things I thought were amazing were the pictures made out of threads and the sculptures. The funniest thing I saw was the little boy grabbing the chicken. The eagles were sculpted so excellently. It was a great field trip.

My Field Trip
by HailyI thought it was cool seeing all of the stuff they like in Japan. The art work was great. My favorite piece of art work was the cabinets with the flowers and the birds on them. I also liked the vases. The vase that was light green was my favorite.
The only things I did not like was the demons they kind of scared me. The demons eyes scared me the worst they stick out and it feels like you are being watched.
I thought the swords where very interesting too. It made me stop and think about the people who made these art pieces. About how much time and effort to make them. Then I really appreciated it.

My Trip To the Art Museum
What I liked best about the art museum was all the different types of incense burners. On the incense burners was all the creatures (such as the eagle, the dragons, people, and demons). The tallest one was probably at least 13 feet tall. I wonder how big the incense sticks are?
I also liked the clocks. They were awesome the best clock I think is the one with a pure gold, with a pure bronze dragon for the hands.
I learned lots of cool facts about the Japanese beliefs, their religion, all of their different ways, and also about Japanese people. I had a really FUN and interesting trip, and I would love to go back.
