A-6 Field Trip to the Portland Art Museum
Splendors of Imperial Japan

Japan Field Trip

My class went to the Portland Art Museum. We looked at Japanese art like statues of demons and birds. We also saw vases. They also had pictures of Japan. We saw the stone of the sun and the elephant with bells on them. We also saw the clothes.

The eagle statue was neat..There was some big and small. The art was okay. My aunt came.

Japan At the Museum

I liked the pictures that seemed to move as you walk by. The cloisonne vases were neat too. When my mom took me up to look at the sculpture, a lady showed us 399 pieces of blown glass. The board was about 2 stories high. The sculpture was taller than Jenny!

Out of all the moving pictures, I liked the wave ones best. I especially liked seeing the sculpture that my dad found. The cloisonne vase I liked most was the one that had lilac on it.

A lot of the blown glass looked like animals. I liked the one that looked like a deer. Under all the glass, there was an Indian canoe. It was painted to look like a chief. From above, it looked really cool. It even had individual seats!

My trip to the museum was really fun. I`m glad that my mom got to go too. I hope I get to go again.

Japanese Art

The main thing I liked was the dragons and the colors of them like the golden dragon with a sword and also the one with a chilled I also liked all the demons with pig noses I liked the samurai with there weapons. the museum also had artifacts like all the vases.

On the first floor we saw some dragons with Crystal balls that dragons held and also some neet pictures with people.

I didn't like the naked pictures of people. The people with chickens in a baskets was ok.

JAPAN

When we went to visit the Portland Art Museum I knew some things I would like and others I would not enjoy and many things would be pretty. Guess what I was right.

The things I seemed to like were things with nature not people and not Demons cause they to me were not interesting . What I liked about the animals is that they had tons more detail than most other things. I did not like undressed ladies at all, yuck. .

I think the reason I liked nature a lot is it seemed peaceful and is something I enjoy a lot .

What I liked the most about animals is because I love animals and want to be with them always. I also want to help them in every way that I can do or think of.

I also loved one of the cabinets a lot I wanted it so bad. I also loved the statue of the Cockatoo that looked like it was made of gold and silver but I was not sure. There was one thing I was sure about that I wanted it very, very bad. I thought most of it was beautiful don't you!

THE PORTLAND ART MUSEUM

I thought the Samaurais were cool auspiciously the swords. The bota temple was cool to [ I liked the bells ].The Isoinnne picture was interesting!

I didn't learn much but I did learn that one Samaurai guarded one emperor and when a new ruler took over the Samaurais where not needed any more. So Samaurai sword makers ran out of business so they started to make statues, pottery, and incense burners.

If I had to judge this field trip between 1 & 10 I would give it a 7 because it did get boring listening to our tour guide talk but she said some interesting stuff like about the Samaurais and the Isoinne picture. Some of the stuff like the pottery seemed so plain because my Grandma has stuff like that with flowers on it.

I had an O.K. time but that's just my opinion.

Japanese Field Trip

Today we went to the Japanese Art at the art museum. One of my favorite thing there was the big crystals with the silver dragons. Cloisonnes were my favorite things there. They have brass out-lines and then they are painted with melted glass to make the shapes. Samaurais or guards for the empires were very, very cool. They had three weapons to defend themselves. The long pike is there main weapon. A long sword was there second of choice. The last weapon is a short sword or dagger. Elephants would usually carry bells when they would walk to bring down the heavens, they thought. I would like to go back and look at more of the Japanese Art, because I have never seen anything like it before.

Japan

Today, I went to the art museum Japan art. It was not that interesting. First interesting thing I noticed was the biggest piece of art . Next, there wasn't any thing much interesting after that until we got to the oriental screens. There was a big, long lecture about it. About how they were ranked by the clothes that they wore. Also about how they brought stuff from place to place. The next most interesting thing was the Samaria, swords, and the incenses burner. After that, the most interesting thing was the sculptor of the guy giving the essences of the earth to the other guy. Well, the last most interesting thing was the sculptor of the eagle. Then we all went back to ware we started, went to the bathroom, and went out side to wait for the bus. When the bus finally came, we all got on and went back to school. So ends our field trip.

FIELD TRIP TO PORTLAND ART MUSEUM

BY:Nathan

I saw three really cool samurai statues made out of bronze in full armor. The three weapons they always carry a pike, a dagger, and of course a sword.

They had a statue made of ivory, I wonder how they got a big hunk like that?

The elephants wore bells on the edges of the blankets that were laid on there backs. There was an elephant made of gold with tons of bells and ornaments with a gold phenox on the head . They said that bells were symbiosis to the prayers going up to heaven. The elephant was an incesnts burner also they said incents helped prayers too. There were giant incents burners at least eight feet tall!

The most interesting thing to me was pictures made of silk strung through a black background. The dogs and tigers looked real!

There were crystal balls that looked and probably were flawless. There was a statue of two polar bears in a cavern.

There table manners are weird they sit on a mat at little midget tables, but I guess they think that sitting at tall tables and chairs is weird to them.

I learned a lot on that field trip. Hopefully you learned a lot by reading about it.
