The Atomic Bomb
The atomic bomb was made by scientists and they gave it to the war. There was a hard discussion for president Truman. He had to decide if they should use it or not. Everyone had a different opinion. Some thought they should use it. Some thought they should show them how powerful it was and if they wouldn't surrender then use it. President Truman had a very hard discussion. The bomb would kill at least 20,000 people. If he did not use it the war would go on for probably tow or more years. The discussion was made and he was going to use the bomb.
The President warned Japan if they didn't surrender they would be destroyed. They didn't surrender so on August 16, 1945, an American plane dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. The bomb killed almost 78,000. O n August 9,1945, the U.S. dropped another atomic bomb on the city of Nagasaki. This bomb killed at least 40,000 people. Japan asked for peace the next day. On August 14,1945, Japan surrendered and the war was over.
