The Rain That Wouldn't Stop!
We kept putting up sandbags but the water kept rising. It kept on raining for days and days but it would not stop. Now the question is, now will we make it?
Let me fill you in on all of this. First is that this town is a small get to know each other town. Also it is always sunny except for one day when it started to pour. It kept raining for days. Then it stopped, at least for a moment. Everybody was so relieved but suddenly it started up again. This time raining more than ever. Some people packed up and moved like a bulldozer was going to demolish their house in a couple of hours. Others stayed there thinking it would quit. Also some stayed there to protect the town of a flood. One thing I forgot to tell you is that a river flows by the town which doesn't help any. The river is rising so much that it's almost over the bank. The walkway down to the river is useless. A lot more people in the town are moving. The river is rising like pouring water in a cup!
One day though the water poured into the town like spilling the cup of water. We kept putting up sandbags, but the water kept rising. We worked all day and some of the night. We couldn't go to sleep that night so we went back and helped them. The river was rising so much that we could barely keep up with it. It was pouring over the bags and there was nothing we could do because there wasn't enough bags and sand. Everyone was told to evacuate. Everyone was leaving back to their houses to get what they could. Everyone was so depressed.
Wait! Someone said it's stopped raining. Everyone was silent. Then the sun came out. The sun someone cried. They were so happy but there was still a lot of work to do with the land. No one seemed to care about that though. They were glad just to have the storm over. So were we!
