My November Book Report:

Journey Home, book report by Kara

The book that I read was Journey Home. Journey Home was written by Yoshiko Uchida. This book is historical fiction. Now I'm going to tell you about the setting and the plot.

Journey Home took place in Utah and California. The main character was Yuki. The book's time period was around World War II. That is the setting.

In Journey Home the problems are her brother got shot in the leg and Yuki's afraid she won't see her brother Ken again. Yuki's other problem is that her best frind Emi lives in Topaz with her grandma and her grandma won't leave Topaz without her husband who is buried in a cemetary. Another problem is that when she moves back to California some people don't like the Japanese. That is Yuki's problems.

The climax is the turning point of the book. The climax started at when Yuki and her family move back to California. I think that when Yuki moves back to California is the turning point because that is where all the problems are starting to be solved. That is the climax.

The resolution is the falling action or how the problems are being solved. In the book I read Yuki was worried that she wouldn't go back to California and she did go back. Also Yuki was afraid she wasn't going to see Emi again and then Emi moved back to California where Yuki was. Yuki's brother Ken got shot in the leg and she was afraid he was going to die. Then Ken came back, but his leg was still hurt.

I thought that Journey Home was an okay book. I thought that because it was about World War II and I like to read about it. I hope you enjoyed reading my essay about Journey Home. Also I hope you decide to read Journey Home.
