My November Book Report:
Journey Home, book report by Devon
I read Journey Home, by Yoshiko Uchida. I'm going to explain the setting, main characters, and the plot.
The setting is in the 1940's during World War II. A Japanese family is in a concentration camp in Utah, gets out, and goes to Salt Lake City, then is allowed to go back to Berkley, California.
The main characters include Yuki, Emi, Grandma Kurihara, Mom, Dad, Ken, and Uncle Oka.
Some of their problems were that he couldn't get their old house back, Papa couldn't get his job back, and they had to live in a church hostel. The turning point was when they got an idea to buy Sunshine Grocery, live upstairs, and run the store. The resolution was when they got the store, a place to live, and Ken came back.
I thought the book was awesome, and the author was very talented. I explained about the setting, main characters, and the plot. I hope you read the took too.
