Vehicles of New Providence - 1875-2015
What will happen to transportation be like in 2015? Any guesses? Well I do. I'm going to tell you about the vehicle population from 1875 to 2015.
In 1875, The total number of vehicles was 301. 1cable car, the rest horse drawn carriages.
In the next 20 years, 1895, 14 more cable cars appeared. The horse drawn vehicles went from 300, to 1490! Still no motor vehicles. The total population of vehicles was 1505.
Another 20 years had gone by, and by then the motor vehicles had finally appeared, 500 of them! They had lost 5 cable cars and the horse drawn carriages had gone up by 410, 1900. The total population in 1915 (vehicles) was 2510.
In 1935, the population of vehicles had gone up 10 times, 20,710 vehicles. The horse carriages had gone from 1900 to 5. The cable cars had lost 5 more. The motor cars were sure popular. They had gone up by 20,210! Very popular.
In 20 years, 1955, they lost 3 cable cars, 3 horse drawn carriages, and had gained 76,996 motors vehicles (In total). The total vehicles in New Providence in 1955, was 77,000.
1975, 20 years later, they lost 1 horse drawn carriage with 1 left. The cable cars are still there with 2 standing. And the motor vehicles went up 60,004. That's 137,003 vehicles.
In 20 years, again, they still have 1 horse drawn carriage, 2 cable cars, and more motor cars. Surprised? Me? No. They had 159,997 motor vehicles with a total of 160,000 vehicles. This was the year 1995.
Now to predict the future in 20 years. In 2015, we think the cars will float on air like a hovercraft. And gasoline will be easier to get plus more expensive. We predict that there will be 180,000 vehicles and all of them would be motor vehicles. Who knows, it's the future. Anythng could happen.
