Kindergarten
by Sam, A-6, 5/16/02Yes, I do think that all we need to know is learned in kindergarten. In my opinion, I don't think that thirteen years of education is necessary. What you learn in 1st grade and up is just like what you've already learned, except its more complex than it really needs to be. If only the world were as simple as it used to be, then the skills you learned in kindergarten would be all you need, such as these ....
To begin with, the one and probably most important thing that everyone should know even before kindergarten is to be nice to each other. That means, play fair, don't take things that aren't yours, never hit people, share, and say that you're sorry when you hurt somebody. By being nice, others will certainly be nice to you, so be friends, and stick together.
Next, I'm sure not only your mommy but your teacher or friends probably told you that milk and cookies are the best snack in the world, and if you want to eat them, you have to wash your hands first. Another thing you learn is the basic ways of keeping clean. Take a bath every now and then, flush the toilet when you are done and wash after too, and clean up your messes. These are a few of things you will end up doing for the rest of your life, might as well get used to so it won't become a big deal later on.
Later in kindergarten, you learn how to read, write, add, subtract, do wacky and mind twisting experiments, and construct totally fun arts and crafts. All of what you just read would not only help you get around in life when you are older, but may end up becoming a hobby or to help you answer questions. Besides, all those big words in the dictionary and super long division don't really mean anything. It's not like they will ALWAYS help you.
Finally, all kindergarteners do this, but don't even realize it; you try to live a well-balanced life. One moment, you could be singing and dancing, the next you're painting a picture of you and your dog, ending up on the floor taking a nap with your security blankie. It may or may not be the short attention span.
All in all, you have learned all you need to know, in kindergarten. If the world was really that easy to be in, then being nice and cleaning up your messes would be so simple. Learning and being able to always do your own thing would be even better and less stressful. I will admit that all I need to know I did learn in kindergarten and that is that.
Kindergarten
By JessieI disagree with Fulghum's idea that all we need to know we learned in Kindergarden. Why I disagree is because you need to learn how to be respectful to everyone around you. You need to learn how to be kind and not hurt other people's feelings.
We need to learn how to get out of very complicated problems and learn how to read, write, study, and lots of ther stuff. If you plan to get a nice job you will have to go to a nice college and study to get a diploma in whatever you want to be.
Part of me disagreeing is that we all need to grow up to learn the facts of life. Most important you will need to grow up find someone you love get married and start a family. I am pretty sure kindergarden doesn't teach you that. That is something only you can learn.
That is why I disagree with Fulghum's theory of "All We need to know we learn in Kindergarden."
Kindergarten
by ConradI agree on all you need is what you learn in kindergarden. Why you need it, what you learn, and how to do it.
Why need it. You need it for when you grow up you can get a good job, have a nice house with a boat and know what to do when you need to.
What you learn in kindergarden is math, reading and writing these help you to plus, minus, read a book, and write letters. You need the ABC's to know how to write words.
How to do math, reading and writing. You plus 2+2 so you go 2 then count 2 more and you get 4. For reading you have to look at words and say them and then you can read a book. For writing you put letters down to make a word and then you do that a few times and you make a sentence. You need to make sentences like 5 of them and then you have a paragraph.
Now that I've told you about why you need it, what you learn and how to do it you will maybe work harder in school for that nice house and boat.
All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
by MartyI disagree with Fulghum's beliefs because you need to know math, you will have to learn stuff to get a job and you need to know how to drive.
As you grow up you will need math for everyday life. Math is the most important subject in life because without math nothing would be the same. Growing up you will have harder math to deal with.
When you get older you will need a job to support your family. You will need to learn stuff so you can get a job. If all you need to know you learn in kindergarten then you would be in kindergarten a long time.
In kindergarten you don't learn to do a lot of stuff like harder math, how to get a job and how to drive. Driving is not a thing they teach you in kindergarden. If they did teach you how it would be a disaster.
In kindergarten they don't teach you a lot of stuff like the hardest math you need to know, how to get a good job and how to drive to get places. So I disagree with Fulghum's beliefs that all you need to know you learn in kindergarten.
ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN
by RyanI agree that you learned everything you need to know in kindergarten. I'm going to talk about how you learned how to read and write, learned how to be social, and how it tought you the basics or roots of things.
First I'm going to talk about how you learned to read and write. They taught you the abc's. Then they took the letters and taught you words. They taught them samll words but as they grow up they just add more letters. Then they taught you how to write the letters.
Second, I'm gling to talk about how they taught you to be social. They taught you to share. They had show and tell. They taught you how to be nice to one another and to clean up after yourself.
Last but not least they taught you the basics of things. They taught you how to add and subtract. They taught you English and proper speech. Also they did a lot of other subjects to help you.
I hoped you enjoyed my essay. I told you about how you learned to read and write, how you learned to be social, and how it taught you the basics of things. Do you believe that you learned everything you needed to know in Kindergarten?
"All I Really Need to Know I I Learned in Kindergarten"
by CameronI agree with Fulghum's idea that kindergarden teaches you everything you need to know, social skills, read and write, and how to deal with basic numbers. And another thing agree with is that kindergarten teaches the very beginning of everything and as you move up you add more on to that subject.
First of all it eaches you social skill. If you didn't learn how to be kind you would go into a new grade and be in a heap of trouble. And it teaches share. It's really good to share because you can get friends that way. And it even teaches you how to clean up your messes. Think how the world would be today if nobody knew how to clean up their messes, a disaster!
Then you learn how to say your abc's. That's the most important thing of all. If you learn the most important things of all in kindergarten, that must be a pretty important grade. Well anyway the abc's lead to little words which lead to bigger words and eventually leads to reading. After that you get into numbers.
In numbers it has the same rule, you start with little then you go to big. First you'll learn how to count to really high numbers. Then you can do 1+1, 2+2, all that kind of stuff. Then you get into numbers such as 5+3, 2+4 and all of that, then you go into first grade.
I have told you how I agree with Fulghum's idea of kindergarten teaches you everything you need to know. And I have told you some of what you learn in kindergarten, social skills, reading and writing, and dealing with numbers. I hope you enjoyed it.
Kindergarten
by GeorgeI do not agree with this statement. I think that we learn a lot in dindergarten, but that's just to prepare us for the next year.
The world gets tough as you get older. You have more tasks and more responsibility. When you are in kindergarten you learn a lot of things, but not as much as you would staying college. Getting your masters or your PhD.
Kindergarten is like a root it teaches you about school and how learning can be fun. Do you think when your in Kindergarten you learn about all the bad things to stay away from, like drugs, bad people, hookers, crimes, politics, health. Do they tell you who is bad and who is good, no! All these things can get you in trouble but they don't tell you that.
Kindergarten does not teach a person how to be a scientist or a doctor. We need kindergarten to help us learn what school is.
All in all, I think it is a dangerous world. And kids should learn about it hefore they go out in the real world.
Kindergarten
by JacobI don't agree with Fulghum's belief because. You need to know how to do other things. Like learning more about math, English, and reading.
If you didn't do math or take higher math classes you wouldn't be able to do anything. Couldn't get a job or know how to subtract, add, count, multiply, or divide. So take math.
If you didn't take English you wouldn't be able to write or do any essays like we're doing right now. Or to fill out an application for a job. So move up in school.
If you didn't know how to read you would be lost in the world. Everything is to be read if you didn't know how you would not be able to know what a sign said or a book and all sorts of things. Don't be afraid.
Now you know why I disagree with Fulghum's belief. When I told you about math, English, and reading. So stay in school and don't listen to Fulghum's idea.
All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
by NiccI do agree with Fulghum. I will tell you why I agree, some of the things you learn, and things that I still do that I learned in kindergarten.
The reason I agree is because the things that you learn you use throught your life. The main things that I do today is put stuff back where I found it. That's why I agree because no matter what at some point in time we use those things we learned.
Here are some of the things you learn: share everything, play fair, don't hit people, clean up your own mess, wash your hands before you eat, and flush the toilet. Those are some of the things you learn.
The main things that I do today are, flush, play fair, wash my hands before I eat, and lean up my own mess. No matter what I will still do these things and more.
Now I have told you why I agree, some of the things you learn, and things that I still do that I learned in kindergarten.
All You Need to Know You Learned in Kindergarten
by SamanthaNo, I don't believe that everything I needed to know I learned in kindergarten, because If everyone only knew what we learned in kindergarten, then we wouldn't have the technology of today. We also wouldn't be able to pay taxes or buy homes since nobody could count out enough money. And, we wouldn't know how to take care of ourselves.
If everybody only knew what they learned in kindergarten, then we wouldn't have any computers, cars, radios, or maybe even electricity! There would be no Albert Einstein, no scientists coming up with life saving medicines, and this is all because nobody would be smart enough to invent these things.
Another thing, taxes. Most people have to pay taxes, and when they do, there is a lot of maoney involved. They need to count out all the money and taxes would be very confusing and nobody would be smart enough to help them.
Plus, we wouldn't be able to take care of ourselves. Nobody would know how to cook food, or wash clothes or anything! Taking care of ourselves is an important thing in life. We need knowledge.
So, if would be nice to learn everything in kindergarten, but we need to go on and have a good education. This way the world will be much better. Without having technology, not being able to count out money or pay tasex, and not being able to take care of ourselves, where would we be today?
Kindergarten
by PennyI disagree on what he said about what we need to learn in kindergarten.
We need to learn more instead of take a nap every afternoon and draw and color. In kindergarten the need to learn responsibility, math, reading, handwriting. When I was in kindergarten that's what I learned.
I think that what he said about what he thought and learned in kindergarten was way too easy for them to learn and do. His idea was not enough.
Kindergarten
by MarcusMostly everything you need to know you learn in kindergarten. You learn sharing, sanitation, resting, and a whole lot more things. I'm gling to tell you about why you can't miss kindergarten, why you shouldn't drop out of kindergarten (or any grade). and making friends.
In kindergarten you learn the basics, share, care, reading, nap, flush, don't hit, and don't take things that aren't yours. They stay with you all of your life, only you express them differently. Pretty much everything that happens in your life is just a more complex version of what you learned in kindergarten.
On the other hand you haven't learned all the math you will need. For example people might short change you. You haven't had any discipline either. I don't think your boss will approve of taking a nap every afternoon. Nothing is as simple as in Kindergarten. No one will give you food everyday for the rest of your life.
One of the best things about it is you make friends. You learn how to get along with other people. Some of those people will be with you the rest of your life. Some people aren't as nice as your classmates in kindergarten.
Those are the best things about kindergarten. Don't skip kindergarten and don't skip everything but it.
