Rising Water

Ah.. It's morning already. Oh, yeah, I forgot we're going fishing today. As tired as I am, I am going to go get my stuff together and leave.

There my friends and I were driving in the car fighting over who was going to catch the biggest fish. As we were arguing I remembered that I didn't bring the fishing poles.

"What?" said Debbie. "You forgot the fishing poles?"

"That would be correct," I said.

"Well, that's real good," said Katie.

"How are we supposed to fish?" they both asked me.

"I don't have a clue. You know what we could do, we could ride around in the boat," I suggested.

"That might be fun," they told me.

"Are we almost there?" Debbie asked Katie.

"Yes, we turn left at this corner over there and then we are at the river," Katie said, irritated.

As we all got out of the car, I thought to myself that we aren't in the right place. I must have told her to take the wrong road. Oh well, at least there is some water here, so that I won't have to tell them that we aren't in the right spot.

"Let's go," I yelled to Debbie and Katie.

We all got into the boat. I started the motor and we left the dock. Although I didn't know where I was going I felt it wouldn't be a problem to just ride around for awhile.

"Hey, Kara look over at that island ahead. Let's go over there," said Debbie.

"Okay," I replied.

"We're here. Let's go see what's on it," I told them.

As we roamed around I started to figue that there wasn't anything interesting about this island. I looked at my watch and it was already two o'clock. So I decided to round everybody up so we could leave.

"Are you ready to go?" I asked.

"Yes, this place is boring," Debbie said.

We all agreed to go home. As we were walking to the boat we felt a big shake in the ground.

"What was that?" we all said.

"I don't know and I don't want to find out," I said.

As we were driving away in the boat the boat started to shake. A second later the boat tipped over.

"Help! Help! Help!" I yelled.

"Help," I heard Katie and Debbie say.

The water was jumping up in the air. It looks like a tidal wave.

"Yelp," I said gulping in water.

After about 10 minutes the waves started to calm down. Now that there is only a steady current flowing I try to find my friends.

"Debbie, Katie, where are you?" I yelled.

"Over here," I heard Debbie call out.

I swam over by a log where she was. "Have you seen Katie?"

"No," Debbie told me.

"Well, we better go find her," I said.

There we were swimming around trying to find her. "Hey, Debbie, I think I just saw her head pop up," I yelled.

Since Debbie was the only one who could go under water and see, she was the one who had to go under. As Debbie went under I saw Katie grab her hand. Debbie pulled her up and brought her over to a log to catch her breath. Once she caught her breath we all swam over to the dock which wasn't very far away. Once we found our car we drove home not saying one word about what happened only a moment ago.
