African Slavery
by Devon

Did you know that there wasn't just white men capturing Africans for slaves? Well I'll explain this and more. I'm going to tell you about how blacks traded in blacks, how the Africans lived in fear, and how the white men started greed in Africa.

Not just whites captured Africans, they captured each other, too. Sometimes a band of outlaws grabbed peopole off of the street, or even out of their own homes! Other times when two tribes are at war, one tribe would ambush them and capture them. They would strip them of their clothing and put them in shackles.

The Africans lived in fear ever since slavery started. They were scared just to walk outside of their houses and be captured. They were terrified of being near any white man, for possibility of being enslaved. They were so afraid that Ibrahima almost didn't help Dr. Cox, a wounded white man.

The white men hurt heir country so much, they even started the greed in Africa. They started all of the trouble with the outlaws by giving them guns to go hunt down other Africans. They paid the Africans who brought them slaves, so many did it for money. They also gave Africans shackles and whips to enslave the Africans they had caught.

Now you've learned about how slavery affected the Africans. I explained to you about how blacks traded in blacks, how the Africans lived in fear, and how white men started greed in Africa. February is black history month, why don't you learn something new?
