by JacobThe bomb is not a very nice thing. Like the atomic bomb it's very powerful. The first time we used it was in World War II on Japan. It was devastating. They say it was like thousands of lightning bolts hitting at once. It followed by a massive shock wave. Knocking down everything in reach. Then fire came and inflamed everything. Since it was nuclear it caused radiation and because of that, today some people who were children then are the same size today.
Hiroshima No Pika
by ChanceOne morning people were eating breakfast in their houses in the city of Hiroshima. Then a bright light flashed, it was an atomic bomb that the U.S.A. dropped. They dropped the bomb on innocent people, kids, babies, men, women, even animals.
A little girl, Mii, and her mom saved Mii's dad from the fire in the house. They ran to get to the river to get to the shelter. On the way they see a dead man and a dead cat floating down the river. Then Mii feels something on her foot, it was a sparrow with a broken wing from the explosion.
They fall asleep, Mii still had her chopsticks in her hand. Her mother had to pull her fingers to get them out. Mii's dad died later. Every year on that day of the bombing people go to Hiroshima and put little lanterns in the river for all their loved ones who died. Mii puts two lanterns in, one for her dad, and one for the sparrow.
Hiroshima No Pika
by DevonIn the story Hiroshima No Pika, the author's point is that atomic war is a terrible thing. The supporting details are a woman and her baby, the destruction, Mii's father, the shelter, and the lanterns.
Mii turned around and saw a young woman hoding a baby and crying. "We escaped this far then I stopped to feem him. He's dead."
In Hiroshima thousands of people had died, and anyone who survived was left homeless.
Then one day Mii's father's hair fell out and he coughed up blood. Purple spots appeared on his body, and he died.
There were no doctors, no medicine, no bandages, just shelter at a school.
Every year on August 6, the people of Hiroshima inscribe the names of loved ones, who were lost because of the bomb on lanterns and float them in the water.
Those are all reasons why atomic war is a terrible thing. I told you about a woman and her baby, the destruction, Mii's father, the shelter, and the lanterns. If you don't think those reasons are good enough then why don't you read Hiroshima No Pika and look for more?
