by NiccWhen the atom bomb hit Hiroshima it pretty much wiped Hiroshima out. When we dropped the bomb it was deadly.
When the bomb hit it let off heat and radiation. The heat destroyed buildings and killed some people instantly. The radiation killed some people pretty fast, others it took a while.
The bomb that we dropped killed at least 70,000 people. Just because we dropped one bomb it killed that many Japanese.
People in Japan still today have radiation poisoning. Some are in hospitals and some aren't. Just because we dropped one bomb people are still dying .
In Japan they send little boats in the rivers. The people write family members' names on them. In the story Mii writes "father" on one and "swallow" on the other.
Atomic War is a Terrible Thing
by CameronWhen the atomic bomb was dropped it devastated a lot of people. Over 120,000 people died. And the people who lived ended up with radiation sickness.
The people who wounded were put in the only standing building, a school. There was no medicine no nothing, only cots on the floor so they could rest. Most of the wounded ended up dying because of the radiation in the air.
The people who lived from the atomic bomb had to watch other people die right in front of their eyes. They had to watch people and animals float down the rivers, it was a horrible experience.
And now people light lanterns to remember those who died. This story changed the way I feel and think about the people in Tokyo and the atomic bomb.
Atomic War is a Terrible Thing
by LibbyIn "Hiroshima No Pika" the author told us how terrible atomic bombs really are.
In the story the author tells us about a swallow, and that made us realize that more than just a few people die, animals die too.
People that lived, lived only for a few days. Then they die of radiation sickness. Atomic bombs are terrible because of breathing in things, Mii never grew again.
It's terrible, mostly for a child, to see men, women, and kids, floating down the river.
A good thing people do after the atomic bomb, is light lanterns to remember lost and loved ones.
Atomic War
by KatieThe atomic war was a bad war. Thousands of people got killed. During the atomic war people had to wear masks when they went outside. I think that is kind of bad. But it is the safe way to go.
The thing that was bad was that they didn't have very many supplies. So when someone got hurt they don't have anything to fix it with.
The atomic bomb put radiation into the air and there was no cure nowhere in the world. The radiation took 2,000 years to go away.
After the war was over every year they would send lanterns in the river with the name of the loved ones they lost in the war.
Well, I just told you about the Atomic War. Pretty sad.
War
by D.J.The atomic bomb is a bad thing because it wouldn't only kill the poeple who were bombed it'd kill people 10,000 years later. War itself is a bad thing itself because it usually kill a lot of innocent people. The atomic bomb brings radiation sickness which also kills a lot of people. The flash from the bomb gives so much impact that it breaks windows. After the explosion they put people's names who died on lanterns and sailed it to sea.
Atomic War
by MarcusIf a bomb was dropped many people would die and/or become very sick. Radiation would stay around for thousands of years. So, it would be unsafe for people to live there.
If an atomic war does happen lots of cities will be flatened. That means people will be killed. Many businesses will fail. Some of those businesses would probably be a big part of that country.
Forests may catch on fire and all the creatures inside of the forest. A few of those animals might be endangered. There may be some logging sites there.
You may have a mom, dad, brother, sister, etc. that lived in Japan when it was bombed. You'd be so scared and worried if they were still alive or not.
The atomic bomb would make the places it hit wastelands. No one could live there because of the radiation. It would be unpopulated because of the radiation.
Hiroshima
by MartyThe sky was bright and nobody could see. Thousands of bright lights flashed at once.
Shock waves came after the bright lights. They knocked down buildings and started fires. Most of the buildings fell.
Fires started and spread. Everything was burnt. When fires started they spread fast.
It had destroyed stuff all around. When it hit it blew up stuff all over. The radiation killed people and animals all around.
The bomb hurt people in many ways. It hurt Mii by she never grew again. She had glass burrowed in her head. It killed her father.
