"Na, na, na, na la, la, la, na la, la, hey Raccoons!" I cried out. I thought it was a good idea for the Raccon Cabin call, it goes along with that Beatle's son, "Hey Jude." A few girls smiled, others snickered. Orion, our cabin leader eyes looked they were about to pop out or something, and exclaimed, "I would have never thought of that, it is a real good idea! Besides, everyone else probably is gonna do one of those cheerleader chants, we should do something different, I like the "Hey Raccoons" thing."
I agreed, who would want to sing we-will-we-will-rock-you-sock-you-
pick-you-up-and-drop-you-flush-you-down-the-toilet-hope-you-enjoy-it-
and-never-think-about-you-ever-again? Orion was right, and this was our camp cabin call, not a pep rally. So we took a vote on which of the cabin call ideas would be our actual call. Hey Raccoons only got two votes. I was disappointed, and everyone knew that the other ones we came up with were either dumb or offensive. From then, and through the afternoon, we were cabin call-less. We split into our field study groups, and that was that.
When we returned to our cabin to get our coats, we realized that we had some extra time. "Let's play that murder game!" someone yelled.
"No, why don't we play Bop!" another person called. There were a lot of games to choose from.
"I want to play Rubber Ducky, the game when you say, 'I love you, Rubber Ducky,' without making the person laugh," Libby told us.
On, on, and on we went laughing our heads off, it was just to weird having someone get in your face, call you Rubber Ducky, and say I love you.
"What about our cabin Call?" Orion asked us after we played Rubber Ducky for about an hour.
"Let's say 'I love Rubber Ducky!' Libby and I cried.
Everybody howled, it was a great idea, wasn't it.
After dinner, we headed out to campfire where we would give our cabin call. We sat down by the fire and waited for our twin to call.
"And those radical Raccoons . . ." Teal, and the gang sung . . . . .
It was our turn to call.
"We love you Rubber Ducky!" the Raccoon cabin screamed, some of us did a little dance, some of us jumped up and tried to do a duck walk. Our cabin call was better than the night before. The other cabins clapped and giggled along as they did for the cabins before us, it was cool.
I enjoyed the whole call thing because it was just fun, and the best time to be as loud as you want to be!!
