Camp Howard
Our group was walking up a narrow trail. It was zig-zagging up the hill. There were logs in the middle of the trail. There were old rotting snags to the sides of the trail.
The snags had holes in them from termites, woodpeckers and insects. Half the snags were rotted away and the other half was home to millions of termites. They were storage for the food for woodpeckers.
We started up the trail and came to a clearcut. There were birds all over and they were singing. There were tracks from deer, elk, cougar, fox, bears, and coyotes.
We started down another trail. We were walking into a forest. The trees were big and tall. It was dark and we played a game. The game was so all of us hid.
After the game we walked down the trail. We went past other groups. We saw birds of all different kinds of birds.
Then we turned on a small windey trail. "It leads to the creek," said our leader. When we got to the creek we looked at salamander eggs. They were in huge clumps and looked like tapioca pudding.
When done looking at the eggs we turned and walked back up this small trail. We came to an intersection and the trail wided up. We walked into a newer forest and played another game.
When done we started on our way down the trail. We saw all kinds of tracks. Then we had to tell what they were. We had easily completed that so we started walking again. We had go to camp then got our beads.
