Outdoor School

It was a beautiful day at Camp Howard, the sun was shining and there wasn't a coud in the sky. A perfect day for the tug-of-love. The tug-of-love is exactly like tug-a-war only it's called tug-of-love.

"Can you feel the love?" Mr. Weebo shout to O'Brien. Now this went on until the whole 6th grade that went was behind either the guy or the girl rope (which were approx. 15 ft. apart from each other). When they finished explaining that they would call out the name of two cabins and those two cabins would go against each other. Moon Rock, one of the main guys, announced two of the cabins to start us off. As they went to their sides of the big rope in the middle, everybody watching cheered for their favorite team.

"On the first whistle pick up the rope. On the second, pull," said Teal, who was the main guy at Camp Howard. As he finished he blew the first whistle. Then, after he checked everyone to make sure they were ready, then he blew his whistle a second time and the tug-of-love had begun. It was rather quick and not as exciting as the ones to come, but I guess it was all right. The people were or I was cheering for won. The next cabins kup was Osprey and Coho. Osprey, I was in Osprey. As I went up to the rope my hands started to sweat which wasn't good for gripping the rope. I stood in my spot, picked up the rope on the second whistle I pulled as hard as I could but it wasn't good enough. Our team lost. The next team wasn't very exciting, but the fourth match was the best. It started out normally then the team farthest from me started to win. They were one big pull away from winning when everyone started chanting Ellk, Elk. The Elk cabin started to pull away from losing. A minute or two later Elk cabin had won. I don't remember any of the other rounds but none were quite as good as that one. I do remember the teachers versus the staff. The teams weren't even fair, 4 on about 15. On the second whistle it seemed as if all the teachers let go except for Mrs. Olson and she ran with the rope.

After that we had lunch and went back to our cabins. It was fun while it lasted.
