Camp Howard
Sheee! If you are quiet you might see some wildlife, our wildlife counselor Orien told us as we walked up the trail. After a while we stopped and looked around and she took us to a dead tree. She asked if we knew what happened to it and one of the people in our group replied lightning and Orien said we were right. We also saw that there were termites in the tree. Orien told us that without a certain bacteria in the termites stomach it would not be able to eat wood.
As we continued we stopped and she taught us how to play predator and prey. What you have to do is cross your arms and make binoculars. Then you had to close your eyes and count to fifteen while everyone else went and hid. Then you open your eyes and look around with your arms crossed and try to find the people before one of them tags you.
After the game we continued on and we got to look at the very pretty view of the mountain.
Then we walked into a mini-forest and Orien asked how much vegetation, shelter, food, and water we saw and we would answer her and then she asked if this would be an ideal place for an animal to live and I said no because there was not enough water or shelter.
Then we went back to the start to earn our wildlife beads and I earned mine. We also learned about stuff like woodpeckers. But other than that wildlife was my favorite thing about camp.
