June

Harvest time - the peasants are mowing the meadow in unison, with the Hotel de Nesle, the Duc's Parisian residence, in the background. The building on the right is the Chapelle Royale, which is unchanged to this day.

July

More of the harvest; the sheep are being shorn and the hay is being reaped. The chateau behind them is that which formerly stood on the Clain at Poitiers.

August

The month of hawking; the nobles, carrying falcons, are going hunting while in the background peasants are harvesting and swimming in the river. Behind them is the Chateau d'Etampes.

September

Probably the most famous of the calendar images. The grapes are being harvested by the peasants and carried into the beautifully detailed Chateau de Saumur.

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

Here is a book that I recommend for all kids. The book is called "The Ghost in the Monitor."

Well, the reason why I picked this book for me to read is because it had a pretty interesting title. The other reason why I picked this book because it sounded like a mystery book. I like solving mysteries and I like mystery books.

The type of writing is fiction. I love fiction books because you can think of the pictures your own way. Fiction novels are a lot more fun to read because there might be ghost that live in a monitor like in this book.

I think the best scene in the book is when the ghost is in the monitor and one girl finds out there is a ghost inside her monitor. When the girl first finds out there is a ghost inside the monitor is when the monitor glows this greenish color. The computer turns off by itself the lights start to flicker and when the do that they finally shut off by itself too. Then the ghost shows her face in the monitor.

Well I think that book was one of my favorite books that I have read so far. I think people who like mysteries will think so too.

Sincerely,

Debbie M.

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a book that I recommend for people to read.

The reason I wanted to read it was because the first two books were good. It takes place in London and a school of witch craft Hogwarts. The author makes the story sound real.

The best scene is when Harry Potter and Heremony his best friend go back in time to save the big Bird that was going to die.

Sincerely, Dustin S

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

I picked the book Among the Hidden because the title jumped out at me. This book takes place in a boys home in the not to distant future. In the story the government passes a law that people can only have two children. If someone had a third child and he or she were found the government would kill the child and punish the parents.

The story is about a third child named Luke, who is always stashed away in his attic and how his life changed forever.

I loved this book and I truly hope that you will to.

Sincerely,

Devon W

P.S. You can find Among the Hidden at the OTTO H H Peterson Elementary School Library.

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

The best book I read last summer was Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets by J.K. Rowling. When someone first told me about this book I thought it sounded like a good book, so I went to my local library and checked it out. It takes place at Hogwarts Schools.

Now I have all the books.

Sincerely,
Jessie L

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

Here is a book I would recomend to people who like books that include magic. It is called WHICH WITCH.

I chose this book because it has a neat cover, and I like books with magic.

The setting of this book is everywhere. They go from castles, to gardens, even to lakes! They don't really stay in one spot.

This book is about a wizard who decides to get married. So he gets all the witches in town together so they can have a contest to see which witch he should marry.

This is a good book.

Sincerely,

Libby

Dear Mrs. Lentz

The author of my book is Wilson Rawls. The title of my book is Where the Red Fern Grows.

This book is more of an adventure story. It's about a young boy and his two dogs and how he got them, and what they went through together.

My favorite scene is when him and his dogs go hunting together when they get their first coon. But one day something awful happens read and find out....

Sincerely

Teonna

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

This one boy gets in trouble and has to the dessert and each they have to dig 5ft. deep and 5ft. around. One day two boys go waking off campus to escape but when they came back they got...!

The best scene in the book was when they find a boat and find some something to drink.

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

Here is a short review of a series that I enjoy reading. I don't think it is very good since this my first one I have done, but I hope you enjoy it.

1. These books are called "History Mysteries" from American Girl. They are all written by different authors. I just wish that the main character would tell the story.

2. Each of these books takes place in the past, somewhere is America, Like New York City, Harlem, Braddock, Jamestown etc.

3. One of my favorite books is "Shadows in the Glasshouse." It is about an English girl named Merry who is kidnaped in England and brought to Jamestown, Virginia to . . . .

Sincerely,

Sam S

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

This is my book review of a book I read this summer. The book I read over the summer is called Live From the Fifth Grade. I chose this book because I wanted to read that book before I became a sixth grader.

The story took place in a school. The book was about in the middle of the school year. The type of writing was one person talking to each other.

I think the best scene was when they find the person who took the printer. That was my favorite part in the book.

That is my book review. Thank you for reading it.

Sincerely,

Kara L

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

Here is a book that I recommend for other students.

I read this book because of the title, "HATCHET." It's about a kid who was in a plane crash in the woods. He has to learn how to survive. The best part in the book was when he was attacked by a bear!

Sincerely,
D.J M.

Dear Mrs Lentz,

The best book I have ever read is called A Child Called It. I picked the book because it had a interesting title and cover.

It took place in a town around winter time. The words were kind of easy reading. The

words were small and it is about 189 page s long. It is at about a 7th grade reading level.

The best part of the book I thought was when the little boy tells his counselor his mom beats and don't feed him.

I really liked the book and I hope you do to. That is if you get a chance to read it.

Sincerely

Katie S

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

Here is a book that I would recommend to young readers: Title: Black Beauty. Author: Anna Sewell

The reason that I would recommend this book is because I love horse stories. Black Beauty is the story of a horse who goes through lots of hard times. Black Beauty tells the story from his point of view, and it is very realistic. But, if you imagine a horse writing, it seems pretty silly.

The story takes place in a small town in Philadelphia. Here is a scene from the book:

One night, Ginger and I were hitched up to the carriage. We stopped at a hotel for the night, and a hostler led Ginger and I toward the stables. I have never seen a hostler who did his work so quickly and thoroughly. Later that evening, as I was settling down to sleep, I heard footsteps. A man came in, and he had a pipe in his mouth. He was mumbling something, but I couldn't make out what. He went up the ladder to the hayloft, and when he came down, he had forgotten the pipe! Later, I smelled smoke. Something was burning! All the other horses were whinnying to each other in confusion. The whole roof was in flames! Horses masters were hurrying in and out, trying to persuade their horses to come out. Then I heard the familiar sound of my master, John Manly, calling us. He found me, and led me out. I whinnied to Ginger and John Manly appeared out of the smoke with Ginger close behind on a lead rope. We later learned that the man was begged to leave his pipe outside, and refused to do so. He had forgotten to pick up his pipe afterwards, and that was how the fire had started. A few horses refused to come out, and they burned to death. How I wish those horses had not died.

To Find Out More, Read This Exciting Book Yourself!!

Sincerely,

Samantha H

Dear Mrs. Lentz,

This is my book review. I chose my book because it was fantasy and had animals and evil queens. It had a head animal named Aslan, and he made other animals talk. This book came from a series called the Chronicals of Narnia. They were written by C.S Lewis. This book that I'm explaining is called The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe.

My book takes place in Narnia the land behind the wardrobe. Some things take place in the house. The story takes place a long time ago.

The best part is when the good and bad animals battle. Of course like in the story's the good guys won. The bad guy's captured Aslan, one of the good guys, and tortured him till he was dead but he comes back to life.

Sincerely,

NICC

DEAR MRS. LENTZ,

Here is an interesting book that I think has a great author and has a good cover too. It also has a cool title (Big Red).

It all takes place in the woods.

The most famous action filled adventure of them all. A boy and his dog battle for survival in the wilderness.

Sincerely,

A.J.
