Reading: Begin Unit 6 "Links to Unit 2" Selections. Take margin notes. Be sure you are reading your outside reading book at home!
Language Arts: Begin to use the writing scoring guide to improve writing. Grammar: subjects and predicates.
Spelling:Lesson 3. Spelling test on Friday.
Social Studies: Complete Chapter 11 Lesson 3. Begin researching a topic about ancient Greece that interests you.
Science: Electricity: Learn about generation of electricity. Activity labs.
Health: Fire safety unit: smoke detectors. New date for field trip to Fire Station: Oct. 11

Reading: Practice some new reading strategies that we will be using all year. Use story maps to summarize stories in Unit 6, Links to Unit 1.
Complete text activities pp. 786-787.
Language Arts: Begin to use the writing scoring guide to improve writing. Grammar: subjects and predicates.
Spelling:Learn to put the suffix -ance on base words with and without a silent "e". Spelling test on Friday.
Social Studies: Complete Chapter 11 Lesson 2. Finish the map of Greece with a small group of students. Select a topic about ancient Greece that you would like to research further.

Language Arts: Write about sports and/or the Olympics. Revise and edit writing with emphasis on vivid vocabulary. Begin learning to use the computer for word processing.

Social Studies: Begin study of ancient Greece. Create a map of Greece with a small group of students. Select a topic about ancient Greece that you would like to research further.
